Maiden trim hover of my new Blueray. Much more stable than my Walkera 68b, especially in a breeze. I can hover tail in and nose in and will try my first forward flight soon.

I have one. Well, I have 3!
One I do my flips, 3D and inverted flying. One that is now a Scale 500D fuse One that is RTF so I have a dedicated Tx all in an EXI case so it's ready to throw in the car and do some normal sport flying at a moment's notice. I don't lurk around HeliFreak that much. Link to my Blueray videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/Blueray450 Blueray is basically the RTF or Rx ready EXI MA450. |

I've seen a few posts about the BlueRay but not alot. I got this as a step up from my Walkera. Turns out it's quite a few steps up. I liked the T-rex parts compatibility and it is real stable in hover. As soon as these snowstorms move through I'd like to try my first forward flight. We'll see if I can do it as well as on Realflight.

Yes, weather is dampening my flying. I'm taking to sim practice, buying and building though
A few of us who hang round runryder and rcgroups have noted that some metal to metal screws are comming loose. Some people have totally reworked the heli one thread at a time using blue loctite on the metal to metal screws. I had my paddle come loose in flight. CA on the flybar threads to the paddle solved my problem. |

Tried my first FFF today. I was alone so sorry no vid. First 2 batteries went nicely. Beggining of 3rd battery the shed jumped out in front of it. Shed - small dent. Heli - Headblock, 2 control links, flybar, and 1 blade holder. Not too bad. It felt pretty stable and did what I told it to pretty well. On one of the turns it just drifted farther than I thought it was going to.
dditch66 - Thanks for the heads up on the metal to metal screws. As long as I'm rebuilding the upper head I'll blue loctite them. So far, all the screws on mine gave a "click" when breaking them free. I'll go over everything just in case. Each crash brings it a little closer to being a T-rex. |

I have been flying my Genesis 450PE for two weeks now. This is the xheli Blueray with the only difference I can see is the single gear design. Everything else seems to be the same. But be aware, xheli says this bird as being as far as the head & tail hardware the same as the Align V2. This is not the case. The Genesis being a single gear does not share the same main shaft as the V2. The V2 has a lower mounting hole for the main gear opposed to the Align & or BlueRay which is a 2 gear. I think both are excellent 450 class helis. I have the Genesis and my co-worker has the BlueRay. We received both on the same day and are pretty much matched as pilots. But more often he is asking me to fly the Genesis and hand me the Tx to his BR. For the money, only another $30 I'll stick with my Genesis...

What makes yours fly better?
BTW, I noticed the shaft issue (Genesis shaft being different than a blueray or Align SEv2 when someone was complaining of the shaft being out of stock. I've stocked up on shafts for my blueray by buying Trex SEv2 shafts from HeliDirect as well as EXI shafts from Xheli. All have been the same. |

Can anyone confirm that the Blue Ray 450 and Align T-rex 450 share the same rotor head (from swashplate up) and tail?

Yes, it is compatible.
Trex SEV2 parts work on it and most of the rest of the heli. Only thing is the tail boom requires a hole to be drilled. Most of the time, the EXI 18H35 parts are cheaper though, but Align parts in bundled packs can save $$$ as well. |

They do share the same I have found the blue ray 450 and the trex 450 v2 are the same except for the frame as far as the swash plate guid is 180 different but all other is a great match hope this helps also as far as the tail boom goes all I had to do is flip the block and it worked well also I did notice that the alignment slit on the align boom is a slit bit bigger but no big deal work perfect for me and still flying solid

Hey dditch66, can we see you smash all your helis into planes like you did with the Belt CP???
Or maybe some new stunts like a Trex in FFF into a wall !!!!! love to see you do that !!

Got one of these about a month ago, the RxR version. Using a Futaba 6EX system. A real step up from my CP Pro 2, which I've retired. I'm still learning to hover- doing well nose out, getting better left in and right in. Some days I can get almost an hour flight time, but the wind here has been real bad lately.

I've been flying mine all winter, getting a little better at hovering each time, and this spring I've gotten into forward flight- doing laps around the field. They're not very pretty, yet, but I'm getting there. I found the $30 simulator from xheli helped a lot. First sim I've found that matches the bird's characteristics fairly close. All the others I've tried were way to difficult.
I can hover nose in on the sim, but haven't tried it with the bird, yet. If the winds cooperate, I plan to get her up there a couple mistakes high and try it tomorrow at the annual spring Dawn Patrol at TRAMPS in Traverse City, MI. The speed in forward flight always takes me by surprise. Wow. |

Does anyone have the default settings for the TX for the Blue ray? I'm not sure how but mine got deleted while making adjustments. Yes I did save them before I started. I've started seeing alot of good reviews about the blue ray. Is there a better 450 that I should know about? Sorry, I just started with helis.
