a123 in a stock e550/e620 frame set for no $

A simple modification to the stock Thunder Tiger 550/620 frame set will allow
you to run a123 packs.

Here is what I did:

1) elongate the slot in the side frame 1/8" or 2mm toward the front of
heli.

2) insert a screw on both sides of the frame through the elongated slot.
Install the lower plastic frame brace.

3) rotate the frame brace up until it hits the X brace in the rear. then mark
the new hole locations to be drilled.

4) now mark the new front hole locations to be drilled.

5) drill your new holes.

6) Once you have tested you holes you can cut the lower frame brace
to 8-3/4" in length.

7) install the lower frame brace and slide your 12-15s a123's into place.

You may notice I put heat shrink around my lower frame brace. This
prevents my wires from falling between the x cut outs in the lower
frame brace and cutting the insulation when I slide my packs in and out.

This mod allows me to run the same packs in both the 620 and my
Trex 600.

What a great idea

I have been using the TP packs frames but never happy with them, I will pull out the original side frames and make this mod.

Hello kregan, What motor and ESC you are using? I am new to electrics and I am interested in using 123A since I can charge them fast.

Castle Creations HV85 and a Scorpion 4025-740kv
on a 15 tooth pinion.
