Default Battery Problem

Why does my battery only last 1 minute flight time (only hovering) ?
Is everyone else the same?

I've got a 4g3 comming in the mail so not sure yet if they have a low battery cut-off..

If they don't - did you maybe run the batteries too low ?

Have you ever over-discharge the batteries before?

I broke in the batteries for the first three flight - meaning gentle flight without sudden throttle change for three minutes before recharging. Now, I have the batteries last for 5.5 minutes even on idle up and around 15 recharging cycles already without issues. I like the break in the batteries when new as I always did that with the bigger batteries in bigger birds. And, making sure no over-discharge too.

Could well be the main motor dying. I still haven't flown my 4G3 enough to kill the motor, though they are similar to 4#3A/B main motors and they don't last that long. Most problems folk have with flight times and power are down to the motor. Although the motors are called 'brushed' motors, there are no brushes in them, only fragile metal fingers that contact the commutator and hence wear down relatively quickly.

I've had some of the 400mAh batteries since January and they still work ok, the only thing is try not to bend the wires too much as they are brittle inside.

Certainly not. Should be lifting just over mid-stick. I have tweaked the throttle curve to give greater rpm , and mine lifts at approx 60% stick. Still doesn't sound as if you are getting all the volts to the motor. Have you checked the blade pitch settings? Zero at mid-stick/idle up etc?

All my settings are as per out of the box, excepting an upping of the NORM throttle curve - just followed the instructions for doing that in the manual. Like all these helis, you need to set the blade pitch to zero at mid-stick, in STUNT or IDLE UP mode. Might be worth a check, but make sure you disconnect the motor first!!

I've just posted some settings and a link to some more in a new thread. It sounds like the shop has dialed out much of the pitch, since it's always when the throttle is punched that the heli yaws, if it doesn't have the pitch available it will be a lot smoother since you are already close to full throttle, but you'll struggle outdoors when you want the extra power.
