Default Need some help...

So I ran into this problem yesterday, thankfully I was just hovering nice and low and was able to bring it down.... a bit of a hard landing but still better then what could have happened.

The heli started up fine, after about 2 mins of flying I brought it back close in a hover and I could hear what I would describe as, the motor dying or a winding down kind of noise.

In this case the motor wasnt dying the main blades kept spinning fine, it was the tail blades that seemed to have stopped. The heli started to spin to the left and thats when I was able to land it.

My first thought was one of the gears was stripped or there was something wrong with the belt. Checking it over the gears seem fine, and I tightened the tension on the belt a bit.

I just hovered over some carpet in my garage and the same thing happened after about two minutes. Even right after it happened and I was forced to land it, I was able to take off again and fly fine (hover at least I didnt try anything more).

Gears?...belt?...or something else altogether?

thanks in advance for the help.

On my heli, the set screw on the pre-built tail hub was not properly seated in the detent on the tail shaft. This is most likely your issue.

I too found that the grub screw that locks the tail blades to the tail shaft dent didnt have locktite and came loose very quickerly.

Well I tried it out, the set screw was in place with locktite in the dent, I cleaned it up and put it back in.

tried hovering again with and the same problem happened so I guess its something else.

Ill keep toying around with it until I fix er up but any more ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Is your battery at full charge? I was seeing a similar problem but it would come with violent jerks from the gyro like the battery was dyeing. Turned out that it was the battery was dead it seems like the heli draws a bunch of power just sitting when doing setup

I know you have probably checked, but is your belt broken?

Im not sure how the plastic gear is attached to the tail shaft but maybe as it starts to heat up, the gear itself slips on the shaft. Kinda like a slipping pinion.

i agree , you may need to get the metal tail and front pulley for the belt , it is probably the plastic gear turning on the shaft.
