Default Best cyclic and tail servos for V2 now?

Hello all

I had built a 450V2 about a year ago and used 65MG’s for the cyclic and a 9275 with a 401 for the tail but I have someone who is asking me about a build now and I was wondering what is the best thing at the moment.

I see that the new 65MG is the HS-5065MG so I think I would recommend those but the tail servo I don’t know about.

I like my 9257 but I’m tying to make it easer on him so having to go with the step down is something I’m trying to avoid recommending.

Thanks for any help.

Although I haven't treid it yet the Ino-Lab 261HB looks like a stunning tailservo. No need for a stepdown, plenty of torque and faster then the 9257.

Hitecs 5083/5084 is a good tail servo from its specs...

There is no "new" HS-65MG. It's the same ol' trusy analog metal gear servo.
The HS-5065MG servo is the digital version of the current HS-65MG.

If I were building a new 450 I would definitely go with the 5065, 5083/5084 and a Spartan.

Yeah if wanted the Spartan I would want the best I could get for it... no point in cheap'ing out on a servo after paying a premium for the Spartan... For an older gyro like the 401 I see no point in anything better than the 9257 or it's equivalent in specs and price

No way would I put a hundred buck plus servo with the 401, the Spartan yes, 401 no!!

There are many threads in the Spartan-RC forum. You should start searching there

I am using the Hitec 5065s on the cyclic and love them. The Hitec HSG-5083MG is ONLY for use with the Hitec HG-5000 gyro so if you are using anything else you would want the HSG-5084. It is basically the same gyro, but can be used with other gyros and is rated a 6V as long as your gyro can take it. I have a Spartan DS760 gyro on my T-Rex 600 and this gyro ROCKS! It's all personal preference and there are a lot of other good servos and gyros out there. I can only comment on what I have used. Look at the Youngblood Mini-G gyro too. It has gotten good reviews.

The align GP750 gyro and DS520 tail servo is AWESOME. Got it a few days ago and it rocks, tested it out in pretty strong crosswinds, pumping the throttle positive and negative, and didnt get as much as SLIGHT twitch/wag. Stops dead where you leave the input too.

Im very happy I spent the money and got this gyro/servo combo!

I have the tried and trusted HS-65MGs on the cyclic and a HSG-5084MG on the tail, and it works well with a 401.

The 5084 is smaller, faster, lighter, cheaper than a 9257, doesn't need a step down, and has metal gears.
