Default Xerogear Night Fly System

Here is a little review and how to of the Xerogear Night Fly System. I first saw these at IRCHA and all I can say is this is not anything like the Cold Light string setups.

Before the videos I also got some information from Xerogear on power usage of this light system. Here are the specs.

450 sized heli kit –
.03 Amp using a 2s 7.4v Lipo using 4 feet of LED tape
.3 Amp using a 3s 11.1v Lipo using 4 feet of LED tape

50 / 500 sized heli kit –
.045 Amp using a 2s 7.4v Lipo using 6 feet of LED tape
.45 Amp using a 3s 11.1v Lipo using 6 feet of LED tape

90 sized heli kit
.06 Amp using a 2s 7.4v Lipo using 8 feet of LED tape
.6 Amp using a 3s 11.1v Lipo using 8 feet of LED tape

OK on with the videos:

VIDEO LINK -> Xerogear Night Fly System - What's in the Kit (49 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> Xerogear Night Fly System - Wiring up the Canopy (61 Megs)

VIDEO LINK -> Xerogear Night Fly System - Wiring up the Heli and using the Optional Controller (55 Megs)

Stay tuned for some night flying as soon as I get a chance. It's tough to do in my area do to light pollution but my 500 is all ready!

Enjoy!

Bob

I've been meaning to set up my Atom for night flight. I was meaning to do it with my 450 but never got around to it. The videos are downloading now.

Chance! THAT ROCKS man.....

BTW I gotta tell everyone that working with Chance on this video was a piece of cake! You have any questions or anything and he is there.... GOD I love a US company that you can call when you have questions!

If you guys have never set up a night rig before TRY IT! PLEASE try it... I am telling you it's easier than it looks and in fact easier than day flying! I have been hooked ever since I first did and it is an amazing aspect of the hobby!

BTW my wife was NEVER untested in seeing a heli fly UNTIL I set up a night rig... She loved it and said it was like a fireworks show! She always asks me WHEN am I going to do it again!

I noticed that the kits on the website don't mention the 500. Since the 50 kit works, it would be very helpful if the website said as much. A 50 and a 500 are very different in size.

Finless did a couple of seminars in how to quickly convert your 450 for night flying in about 15 minutes then night flew the 450 including some 200+ foot autos in between the parking lot lights at the EFExpo in Phoenix a couple weeks ago. It was HOT.

I'm really looking forward to the flight test vids Bob! I've been eyeballing the Xerogear nightflying stuff for a while, this would kick ass on my Furion!

I have updated the product descriptions on the web site for the 50 / 500 kits. Thank you and please let me know if I can do anything else.

Thanks

I hate to be picky when such a nice discount is offered, but the discount doesn't seem to apply to the entire order. I added a 450 kit, the controller and two lighting effect modules and the discount was only applied to the kit. Your post says entire order so am I missing something here?

Thanks.
