Default Micropower V3 logging rate vs number of sessions?

So the default logging rate is 10Hz - How many sessions can you expect to get out of the V3 at this rate logging basic power info + 1 RPM sensor?

Is 10Hz necessary? What do most of you have the logging rate set at?

Has anyone ever seen a chart or equation which allows you to figure out total time of data store vs how many parameters are being logged for the V3 (which apparently has 128KB of flash storage)?

Unfortunately for me, my laptop is a Mac and so I can't offload the results at the field - hmmmm... wouldn't it be nice to be able to throw each session on a flash drive somehow....

I have the V2 logger and recording basic power + rpm at 8hz gives around 15 minutes, adding temp and servo current dropped it to around 11. the V3 i believe has 4 times the memory so maybe you could squeeze an hour from it.

The manual states that the logger compresses the data on the fly so I don't believe there is a way of calculating your total logging time.

That's absolutely correct. We do lossless compression - the upside of this is lots of logging time, but the downside is not knowing exactly how long the device will log.

In general, at 10 hz, logging voltage, amperage, RPM and temperature, with typical flying, you can expect about an hour+ of logging time. At lower sample rates, of course the time goes up. With more sensors, the time goes down.

Re the mac, do you run Parallels or VMWare? Our application runs on these, which might solve your field download issue.

Thanks for the replies. Recorded my first sessions today at the field. Pretty neat stuff. 1 hour of logging is plenty for me. Unfortunately my laptop is an older Powerbook (non Intel) - so VMWare won't run on it.
