All I can say is "wow".. What a sweet flying machine... I've flown about 3 packs through it with the bird toned down a little just until I got the feel for it. I video'd the maiden but the camera wasn't that good and it was very cloudy and windy.. I'll post it but you can't see much..:o

Either way, it was fun. But, on the last flight, I hit idle up and my tail began to piro.. I hit TH and she came down like a feather from a 10 foot auto.. upon inspection, I noticed that my tail pitch slider snapped.. WTF.. everything was smooth as silk in the tail and don't understand how this happened. By the looks of most LHS being out of stock of this item, it leads me to believe that this is common. Has anyone else had issues with the tail pitch slider?

Thanks,
James

Sure... I tried using high strength epoxy on it just to try and see If it'll hold.. I don't think it'll be flight worthy on such a powerful bird.

First one of those I've seen too. There was a guy that posted in the main forum about a washout mixing arm that snapped on his new Protos, another first for me. I'm still running the original pitch slider and V1 tail case as well as original mixing arms on mine and it's a year old. I think ya just got a dud B.

Yeah, guess I'll be the first.
No problem tho, just ordered another one. I flown many birds with plastic parts before and I know they are made to hold up to the job they are intended for. However, some things should be CNC. Namely, the pitch slider lever and the FB carrier. Just my opinion tho. Another on the way...

fwiw...

No reason for it to snap.....Not that much force on the lever....Was it damaged on install...Servo stalling at ends of travel?.....Perhaps wrapping thread arounnd the broken area then hitting it with a little CA would add some safety....

John.
I am very meticulous when I build and I go over everything 2 and sometimes 3 times.. OCD!!!
I would have noticed if it were damaged prior to install. Also, I am sure my servo wasn't over driven. Must have been a bad part. It happens and I understand that. I ordered a new one and hopefully all will go well..

Thanks for the tip.. I made another slider to hold me over until the new one comes..It's made out of 1.5mm carbon fiber..

Maiden flight.. Poor quality vid but I figured I'd post it anyway..

I got a little tail wag at the end. Lowered the gain a bit. This was the very first flight on 2x FPevo25 3s-2170's
