People are CRAZY on eBay. I have seen stuff go higher than what you could buy it at Ricks (see banners) for about the same and have it in 3 days.

I'm starting to notice that, Dan. I just talked to a guy I know that has 15 helis and is willing to give me a deal on one of his Raptor 50s. He also has a Raptor 90 he wants me to look at. Not sure I'm ready for a 90, though. After I look at what he has I will probably post here to see if what he is offering is a good deal.

DO NOT BUY JUST A 90! I bought a 60 for my first helicopter and mistakes are expensive. If you do not mind spending the money then fine but a "good" crash cost me over $300 bucks one time. A 90 also covers a lot of ground rather quickly so it can get dangerous quick.
Now if you have the money buying BOTH may not be a bad idea fly and crash the 50 then when you master the move try it with the 90. Heck I have a 90 sized with a old ass, bearing grinding, YS80 in it and it is still fast as crap. Kinda scared to put the new YS90 and pipe in it

That pic is the classic example of what happens when the grip is not properly glued.
That pic should be in a sticky for grip gluing. As was mentioned above always keep the extra epoxy long enough to be sure that the batch set up correctly. For having chucked a blade that don't look too bad.

I use JB Weld. It ain't pretty but it seems to hold. But I think I might put the carbons on now.

On wood blades you need to scuff the plastic blade grips, cut away the covering at the root and 30 minute epoxy the blade grips to the blade.

I lost a spindle bolt while spooling up at about 900rpm about a week ago. Luckily for me the only damage was a cut up shin and one carbon fiber blade. No damage what so-ever the helicopter probably because both blades left the hub at the same time. mile hi flyer's comment about the m-80 is right on. When mine detached there was that loud bang and what felt like a strong shock wave had hit my whole body instantaneously. The first thing that races to my mind is that the blade hit me but were, the first place I think of would be the worst. I look myself over and fine my shin all cut up and with a large sign of relief that it wasn't something serious like my neck. That's when the pain started and didn't stop until two days later, the blade hitting caused the bone to bruise inside. Hopefully a newb will look at these pics and double check everything on the blade grip because there is the potential for a lot of energy to be released if it fails. (sorry if any of the pics offend)
PS. I used to be at RCU for a couple of years but got tired of opening a post just to read about a newb that needs help with something that has already been posted. Something like "proper belt tightness". Not saying that it is bad for a newb to ask questions I just got tired of every single post being like that. I am very much enjoying myself reading about a large range of helicopter topics here at helifreaks. |

I guess thier is a risk in the hobby that could be fatal if it's not respected. Really makes me want to check everything over much closer.
