Is this training gear to big for a 500? http://www.helimax-rc.com/accys/hmxe2025.html

Here is what I built for my 500 I have not had any issues with resonance. I have been hovering at 3+ feet. Carbon rods, not tubes, pvc and ping pong balls all put together with hot glue and wedged in the landing gear. It is big, but I did not want a accidental blade strike.

Tahoe,
Will that actually stop it from tipping over? Looks to be a bit too wide a stance.

So far no issues. Knock on wood. It did not prevent me from mowing the grass, early spring flying at a park before the grass was mowed, and striping my tail servo gears. I will have replacements today in time to fly on Sat.

Well, this is my "home made" training gear.
Carbon rods 8mm, ping-pong balls on the end & fixed in a fiberglas frame which can be bolted on the landing skids. An extra 300grams in total but because it's bolted on the skids, the CG is perfect.

Never mind the long bolts, they are already exchanged with shorter allen screws.

Best regards.

Training gear is fine to fly with, just make sure your balls are out of blade wash. I flew around quit a bit with training gear and it causes no ill affects in handling. It may even help you due to the extra weight for a while , It will be a bit more stable with the training gear on. Once you can fly around a field with them on and have no problems doing so, take them off and enjoy the new experience , Same thing as a kid that takes off his diapers for the first time. You can do it , Your a big boy now . Dont piss your pants now .
