Hiya

Sounds to me like the ESC's not seeing low throttle on power up.

Are we talking about a belt cp with stock Tx? If so, make sure the throttle is all the way down, as well as the throttle trim.

hi lankey, thanks for the quick reply, I've got a new esc installed this afternoon and saw it tested in the shop. All was working fine, now when I get home and all hooked up as you described, I'm getting different beep tones to normal, and the main gear has now stripped itself as well, and I ddidn't go anywhere near the gyro or idle up switch, as Ilearnt that before the hard way!! cheers Loz

Ah, I see- an aftermarket ESC.

If you look at the ESC's instructions you will most likely see that the throttle range has to be programmed in... This is typically the first step that you do when installing a new ESC and is usually as simple as moving your throttle to full, powering on the heli, then moving the throttle to minimum. The ESC will normally give conformation bleeps at each stage.

Have a look at the supplied instructions as see if this is the case. Normally I back the motor away from the main gear when programming a new ESC... means you can still hear the beeps but the motor is isolated shoud anything unexpected happen.

Good luck
Steve

Did he install it straight into your bird and test it with your Tx, or was it tested on another bird and a different Tx?

Only thing that I could think has happened is that the guy in the shop setup with the throttle trim tab in a different position to that you're using now.

Re-programming the ESC throttle range with the throttle trim at it's lowest position (always keep it there) should resolve the issue.

Friendly tip Lozza. When you post with a problem, try and include what equipment you are using- in this case, stock Tx and aftermarket ESC (preferably which model). Just helps peeps to give advise

Let us know how you get on pal.

Steve

Is the throttle trim and stick all the way down when you plug in the battery?

Throttle and trim are both down, I turn on TX and when I connect battery,I put some throttle on and all I get is a gurgling/buzzing sound, sounds like its trying to go but it wont.

It maybe a silly question but does the esc connector sit in channel 3 of your rx?

Erwin, I was just checking through the "beep beep" sticky when I realised Laurie was using the stock ESC!

Laurie. As the ESC you have is the stock Esky version it will not have programmable throttle ranges... as you didn't post the type of ESC you had purchased I presumed it was not Esky as peeps do not generally buy Esky electronics again!.... please ignore my previous comments regarding setting the throttle range!

Looking through Ber60's (Erwin) sticky, you will see that timing of the throttle and trim tab is important when setting the brake mode. Have a read through that sticky and try again bro- you'll get there.

Steve

Sounds like a connection to the motor is missing, check your 3 bullit connectors for bad soldering.
Do you still get the 4 times 3beeps when connecting your battery ?

Be very carefull when fiddling around with the esc , to be sure remove the main blades.
If you don't the heli will bite you.
