i am trying to setup my gy611 gyro with my dx7 radio. more specifically, trying to set the lower Gear channel ATV to adjust the gain remotely. i have the gyro sense set to auto, with normal flight mode set to normal for the gyro, and ST1 and ST2 set to head holding. i cant figure out how to switch between High and Low setting for the Gear ATV, flipping the gear switch or flight modes does not work. any help is appreciated, thanks

Flipping the gear switch doesn't do anything because you've assigned the gyro menu to the gear channel. This is an option in the setup menu that you access while pressing the two buttons on the left side of the screen at start up.
You have a choice of assigning the gyro function to AUX2 or GEAR channel. Check first to see what channel did you assign your gyro gain input. Then, in the "gyro sens" menu where you assigned auto flight modes (normal and st1/st2) you have two rate values that should look like this: 0: 50% 1: 50% These are the two values that you should change in order to affect the gear channel, you have to forget about the ATV menu in this case. Anything from 0% to 50% will be the gain in rate mode, and anything from 50% to 100% will be gain in head holding mode. 50% being zero gain, and 0%/100% being 100% gain in either direction. Once you set these values, let's say you put: 0: 75% 1: 25% This means that "0" will give you 50% HH gain and "1" will give you 50% rate gain. You can confirm this now by switching to the channel display menu where you have a slider for each channel and you see the gear channel values change as you flip your F.Mode switch (that's because you assigned auto gyro sens as you described)

You can either use the gyro sens menue or gear ATV for the gyro but not both.
Using the gear switch ATV for gyro gain control is the 'conventional' way and allows you to switch between two gain levels no matter what flight mode you are in. As the previous poster said any negative value would be Rate and anything positive will be HH mode.
