Hey, just wanted to know everyone's opinion if it's safe to swap lipo and take off? I usually wait some 10 mins, but while the battery of my nitro is recharging, I was wondering if I can just land, swap lipo and take off.
At my local field, there are still a lot of planks, only a few fly helis, so it would also be good to fly 2 or 3 lipos. My 450 is all stock, SE V2, ah, the motor has a heat dissipator if it might help. So, any opinions, welcome. Thanks, |

Fly as many batteries as you have as long as you keep check on temp of motor!

I just swap lipos and take off again, but I'm using a neu motor and external BEC so my stuff stays pretty cool anyway. The motor will heat up very quickly, so letting it cool between flights is kind of a waste of time. It'll get right back up to hot right after takeoff anyway...As long as your stuff isn't on the verge of overheating, you don't need to wait IMO

I just change the battery and go. Just check to make sure your equipment is not too hot.

Oh, and make sure to reset the timer on your transmitter. I've lost a lipo due to that...

Hey, thanks to all for their replies.
I know the temps for a nitro, but, for the stock motor on my SEV2, what would be a correct temp? thanks, |

When I flew a 430XL I think I got temps around 49ºC.
I don't think these electric motors start getting damaged until around 95ºC, but I would start looking for causes of heat if I was getting temp at 60ºC or higher (like too tight of a pinion mesh, etc.).

i usually wait about 30 minutes between flights. thats how long it takes for me o replace the main shaft ,fly bar , blades , and tail boom.
lol my sport motor and speed control don't even get hot after about 3 minutes of just hovering arond .
