I know this is a heli forum and I have to say I absolutely love the way Phoenix performs when it comes to helis. I was just wondering if anyone uses Phoenix for planes and if so, do you have any settings you could share to make the plane physics better. I think the plane physics on Phoenix are horrible. The speed is way off and the general flight characteristics don't perform anywhere close to the real thing. A 6 or 7 pound nitro airplane does not just float in for a landing with no power. The only thing the planes teach you is up/down, left/right. Sorry, I'm not trying to bash Phoenix as I think it's a great sim, I'm just trying to avoid buying Realflight just for the planes. I can't believe they could get the helis sooo right, yet the planes are still so far off.
Thanks, Rick

I own both Realflight and Phoenix and you are right, the plane physics on Phoenix are horrible. Realflight is really better than Realflight for plane. Some foam plane fall like a tree leaf when we cut the power and some plane have a very too slow speed.
But for helicopter, Phoenix IS a winner.

The plane variants are easily tweeked to fly great.
Unzip to YourDocuments/PhoenixRC/Variants/FixedWing. They can be selected when you choose the aircraft by clicking the dropdown arrow next to the aircrafts name in the main menu. Let me know what you think. |

Haven't had a chance to mess with the sim since I posted this thread but after finally flying last night, I just wanted to thank Whopper again for his plane variants. They definitely make the airplane physics perform much closer to real life and have made the sim that much more enjoyable for me.
Thanks Again, Rick
