Default 9650 with 9257 gears

I just purchases a used 9650 and was sent the gears for a 9257 by the same person and he states he was told that by putting the 9257 gears in the 9650 it essentually becomes a 9257. Now he didn't do this himself and he seems to be questioning it as well so I figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone has any more info on this.

I have read about this many times. It sort of makes sense..............why not ask Futaba directly?

They have a telephone support line.
