Default Looking good :)

Looking cool.My setup arrived today. Its all the same gear but wont be setting up until christmas (Its my santa pressie)- A few recommendations to complete my kit:-
What did you use in the end up to power the camera?Flight battery or seperate 500mah?
What did you use to view?screen or goggles
What did you use to record the vid for utube?

Now get that thing down to the field and lets see a flight video

I'm planning on doing the same xpower180. I've got to pick my days now, we had our first snow yesterday and with that, the wind has picked up.

I'm using a 460mah 3 cell pack for the video, it sits on top of the flight pack, and the canopy still fits (it's also handy for good CoG).
I have goggles and a 7" screen (for spectators and/or backup if the goggles fail)!
For the video, I hooked the video feed up to my laptop.

When I get a chance, I'll post pics of my heli setup and groundstation.

Hope this helps?

I'm waiting on the FPVPilot Extended Landing Gear, but it's on it's way!

I like that ground station - will the patch antenna work mounted to the case or will it go on a tripod?
I have the same kit but the tx antenna is a 3 dBi dipole antenna (omnidireccional) that came with the kit.
Will the whip give you extra range or is it just a weight saving device?

I've only done a short range test since mounting the patch to the case and it seemed fine, maybe someone on here could advise as to whether I should isolate the rear of the patch against the metal case?
The Tx antenna was switched from the supplied rubber duck to reduce both length and weight. Having not tested the system on a proper flight, I don't know whether there will be a range penalty with the smaller whip... we shall see soon (hopefully).

Thanks, although the original file is MUCH better than the youtube compressed version!

I'm using this capture card, along with their (free) Media Center Software, on Windows 7.

LOL!

Well some of the gear is for christmas (it had to be tested, right ), and the rest was bought with some long overdue overtime money!

I'd never have got it all together at the same time otherwise...

Pretty much any dipole will definitely out-perform the monopole whip. You can make your own, but that size bird should have no problem with the rubber ducky dipoles. Obviously you have to balance the weight up front.

I am also concerned about having the patch attached to the aluminum sheet of the case's lid. It provides a reflective surface that may interfere with the best possible signal. A test inside the house isn't good enough... go to a park with a hill and tell your friend to walk to a distant corner with the camera/transmitter in hand.

Don't get me wrong-- your case looks awesome. Just wait until parts are proven before bolting and riveting.

Hally

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to do a decent range check before flying off into the distance.
I've got too much cash invested in this stuff to be careless!!
