Default Heatsync on motor?

I just ordered a HM 4#6. Its my understanding the little stock brushless motor gets fairly hot. I know some folks are cutting their canopies to help get air flow over the motor, but have seen others suggest a heat sinc.

Anybody out there have a E-Flite Blade CP Pro 2 or any Blade CP with direct drive tail motor and a sync on it? I am wondering if it might fit over the stock brushless motor on the Walkera.

Here it is on RR Hobby: http://www.redrockethobbies.com/E_Fl...tm?Click=30985

Could help a lot if its a flush fit. Mayne even take some CPU thermal compound go to between the moror and the sync. If anyone has both heli's could you see if it fits and report here?

Thank you,

- HD

I just got my 4#6 about 2 weeks ago. I too saw that the stock motor was gdtting extremely hot, around 150. Was also noticing that I was only gettting 2-3 minute flight times before my heli had to be put at full throttle just to keep it in the air. I was told that my Walkera may have had a bad motor because others say that theres didnt do that. Eitther case I upgraded my motor to the Turbo Ace 31714. Now im runng 5-7 minutes and motor temps are 125-130. Hope u get a better stock motot than me. LoL

Ohhh! I will be picking up one of these for sure. Did it just slide down over the motor? Helped with temps? Did you add any thermal compound or anything? Thank you,

Nice... I am going to order one of those on Friday. Thanks for the feedback. I didn't even know there was a heatsync specifically for that little motor.

Yay well I got my HM 4#3 today from wowhobbies.com. I gotta give Wow credit. They appear to have not only checked it but even trimmed it for me. It hovers great and controls darn well. Tail locks in great to. I did check over the heli before flying it and noticed that screws were loose in a few places. Mainly the little screws that hold the blade grips together. It is the nicest FP heli I have ever flown but like any FP REEEEALLY does not like wind. I flew it at the park in the wind and had a lot of close calls but was always able to get outta trouble till it made a B-Line for a light pole and I just couldn't get out of the way. I gave it full down elevator to it notes up and smacked into the very wide street light pole and destroyed the canopy. Otherwise the heli endured. Ordered that heatsync from Clubheli.com and while I was there I ordred 2 canopies and some tail blades.

Bottom line, she is an indoor bird (or a dead still day) only. Be looking forward to some indoor fun flys soon...

Im using the stock motor and im getting 150 hot but my batteries last over 10 min flying inside. Battteries are around 110 hot. I ordered a heatsink for a axe cp, someone else uses that. They are purple though, so I may remove the anodizing to make it silver. Anyways I will post back what the temps are for the motor and battery once I get it.
