Futaba Receivers and LiFePo batteries

Greetings from Estonia

Has anyone tried to connect Futaba Receivers directly to the LiFe 2S (6,6V) battery?
Does those (R617FS and R6008HS for example) survive fully charged LiFe voltage 7,2V?
By Futaba specifications for 2.4GHz Receivers, the max voltage is 6V only.

Any help would be appreciated

I run my Trex 600 on hyperion 6.6v 1700mah pack. No issue for me .

they will run fine on a LiFe battery just make sure the servos and gyro are up for the task if not install a regulator for the gyro

the 6106hfc has a power requirement of 3.3V~ 8.5 V
R6107SP 3.3V~8.5V
the futaba s9070 is 7.2v servo

sorry weaking old thread..,

i have futaba rx 617fs on both of my heli, which rx spec voltage: 4,8-6V.
My question:
is this save to use LiFe 6.6V unregulated/direct to rx? because i don't want to burn my receiver which is only rated 6Volt

I personally run the following receivers on 2S LiFePO4 unregulated:

R6004FH
R6106HFC
R617FS
R608FS
R6008HS
R6014FS
R6014HS
R6203SB
R7008SB

In addition, I have personally tested everyone of these receivers with a freshly charge 3S lipo and a 1.5 amp load (best I could do at the time). Again, no issues.

The receiver is not the issue, it is the other equipment in you aircraft. Servos, gyros, etc. If they can handle the 6.6volts then no worries with the receivers.

are you sure the R617FS can handle 6.6volt from LiFe, because they rated max 6Volt only and difference from R6208SB Voltage Range: 3.7 - 8.4 Volt (2S Lipo capable).
my electronics can handle LiFe voltage anyway, my only concern is the RX

I am absolutely certain of it. My FB 550 flies several times a week with that set up and has done some for nearly a year. I have 4 other planes ranging from a 10S pattern plane to a variety of F3J competition gliders that all use the exact same set up.

You are not going to hurt the 617FS RX by using an unregulated 2S LiFePO4 pack with it.

Also keep in mind that when Futaba rates something at "6 volts" that is 6 volts nominal, so even a normal NiMH 5-cell (6 volt) pack is over 7 volts fresh off the charger. The 617 could care less.

When Futaba say 6v they mean 5 AA dry cells which is 7.5 volts
Even 5 & NiMH = 7v fully charged
