Default Successful Maiden today

Well Folks

Well today was the maiden flight. All in all a very lovely build. Great first flight but with very low head speed. Not exactly sure why.
I got the jive 80hv set at 85% in stunt one and am geyting 1630 on the head. On stunt two 99% but rpm does not change. In normal 1460 at just over half stick. I'm flying 10 s with the kontronics 700-52 motor. i wonder if I have the right size pinion on.
Views please
Thanks

What pinion do you have in it for 10S?

Hey
I'm not sure. What ever came with the kit. I just found a 15 and 16 pinion in the box and in a bag that says 10S perhaps i put the wrong pinion on

You want the 16 pinion, even with that, the head speed on a governor will not go above 1800. At least, I think so.

Hi Guys
I had installed the #13 pinion. Switched it out to a #16.
Will see how it goes tomorrow
Thanks

I think you will find that the 16t pinion will help considerably.

Have fun with it

Actually today I tach'd it (on 10s) with 16T and got a reading of 1850 rpm (bang on) at 85% flat, and 1740 rpm at 80% flat. (this with YGE not kontronik).

Not sure yet if @ 1850 there is enough governor head room for 13 degrees of pitch. But there you go, I think the 16T is good for 10s.

Thanks for the advice.
Will let you know how it works out. By the way what are your views on the yge and which one have you got on the henseleit?
Thanks

I like the YGE, in fact I just bought the newly released YGE 90 HV for my Logo, as I ripped out the YGE 120 HV for this TDR. On the logo 600, the YGE 120 has been flying great. And I bought a second hand YGE 30 for an FPV plane as it is so tiny and light weight.

The attractions are the anti-spark built in, the governor works like a kontronik, you can set P and I via the programming card. They are really good at email support and the two places I've bought from (one USA, one Germany) turn around a technical query (one on heatsinks, the other on the settings for a scorpion 4035) within a couple of days.

I also like that it isn't kontronik, but there is no logic to that.

Nice regulators, i did not know this brand.
I like they can be run on 14S, it will look strange, but i expected the TDR to have more power.
But i think it comes from my T500, it is overpowered compared to TDR, which i never realized until now.

They sound very interesting - have to try - I guess a 90 would probably be OK for the TDR - I'm tiring of the Jive over self protection and KT support has been underwhelming

John,

What are you using to try and keep the Jive cool??

I have a 5V 25mmx25mm fan from yeah racing mounted to a cooling tower heat sink and the ESC is only a few degrees above ambient temperature after a flight. Back to back flights not a problem.

I'm just using a Dick Smith heatsink and the ESC comes down barely warm - I like your fan cooled HS though. My probs have been with failure to initialise mostly with weird error codes and some per-flight brownouts.

Hey guys
I got her dialed in today. Auto trimmed and all
Head speed in normal at hover :1800
Stunt 1 :1750
Stunt 2 :1850
The last flight was the best for the afternoon after the rain and auto trim.
Did not see 200kph yet but hoping to do so over the weekend.
What head speed are you guys running on 10S and what flight times are you getting?
Kindly let me know.
Thanks
D
