Default Gaui X5 tail bushing

I have a Guai X5 and the tail bushing that goes through the tail pitch slider broke. About a month before, I hit the tail rotor on the ground (no noted damage). Also no damage to the tail gears. Has anyone else had a bushing break?

I think that the contact with the ground may have stressed the part, or maybe a bad part from the factory? At any rate, if you strike the tail, you may want to replace the bushing. I have not flown my X5 hard as I'm a new pilot just focusing on aircraft control and orientation.

Hi gator,

Sorry to hear that mate.
The tail slider is the same as the hurricanes and i've had many many many a stack with mine. Not one replaced yet. My X5 has only had 10ish flight so far but nothing to report.
It is brass though, so a knock on the right angle could possibly harm it so good advice on check/changing.

hope you are up flying soon. How are you finding the X5??? I found it suprisingly stable in hover. Was expecting it to be a handful. Amazing how a heli can be sedate when you want it to,yet rocket when you start pushing the sticks

Vas

Thanks Empire! Should be back up Saturday!

Torana74 that's interesting that you haven't had a bushing problem after banging the tail. Maybe mine was over torqued at the factory; we'll never know for sure though. Anyway, got the bird back together minus the bushing. Mostly minor damage.

I agree that the bird is stable in hover. I haven't done any 3D yet as I'm a new flier and my friend is telling me to focus on the basics first (crawling before walking). Sometimes if you go to fast, you may have to go back and relearn the basics and so I'll get there soon enough.

Enjoy the X5!
