Thanks for the info.

As of 5 minutes ago the 5020-450 is in the post and on the move as we speak.

I looked at that motor and MANY others....only issue is that it is designed for a 700 drive train, though it will turn a 800 it will be under a much higher strain.

My line of thinking is .... if the NEU 1920 was having major issues turning a 800 drive train, Most if not any motor in that class category will also.

Hence the reasoning to move up into the 50 series motors

I understand. Well, hopefully she (motor) arrives in a timely manner. I am looking forward to seeing more and more pics of your latest creation.

But now, with these old eyes giving grief, I all but stopped doing any 3D.and have to be content with just sport flying.
But it's nice to know you have the ponies under the canopy just in case

Yeah right Night, you da man

By the way, i just finished putting the camera in the 2 axis gimbal you disigned and made for me.

Today I was messing around with a 401 to get it stabilzed, one gyro for each axis is the goal.

I added rubber grommets to give the servos a little resistance or they'd overshoot center then rebound on side to side as it has less friction than a Swiss watch.

I'm starting with the "pan" for a gyro and was working on dialing down the sensitivity when my bench battery died.

Been doing a little research on a stabilized gimbal, just don't understand everything I know about it for now.

FMA Direct? That is like a pilgimage to Mecca or an audience with the Queen! Please take pictures and videos for the rest of the "unwashed multitudes". No one is more deserving than you for such a trip.

Mel, do you think it is possible that when nightflyr returns from the mount upon high in the holy land of FMA, that he will be the same? Could it be that he will come back to we lowly peons and mere mortals as....

Saint Nightflyr

??????????

All I can say is this is truly "shock and awe". Tremendous.

Those springs on the landing gear don't have an issue with grass?

As long as Night doesn't have an issue with "Grass" landing gear shouldn't either

The Lab is fired up

Surgery will commence today, the new Scorpion 5025-450 motor arrived this morning, the BOCA bearings and KDE mount have been here since mid week.

First up is to replace the stock Scorpion bearings with the Ceramic BOCA's, and machine the flat onto the shaft.

Then remove the NEU 1920 and motor mount from the RJX / ALIGN 800 and begin fitting the new power plant..

Hoping the frames won't need too much cutting to accept the 50 series motor..

Time will tell...
