Default Smells Fishy

Hi guys here's the run down. This guy is selling his heli brand new in a box pics was posted. He said he needs to sell it to pay for rent cause he lost his job. I paid the guy for the asking price with insurance on Sept 6, 2 days later ask him for the tracking number he said he mailed it but can't seem to find the paper, he told me he's going to look for it when he get's out from work, that made me think cause he said he lost his job. It's been a few day haven't heard from him since. What do you guys think, am I paranoid or it smells fishy.

I saw that ad the other day and thought it sounded disingenuous. For sale ads that try to pull on your heart strings with tales of woe always put the red flags up in my mind. I hope you didn't get burned! The thing about telling lies is that you have to remember all the ones you've already told. Sounds like he forgot that he posted he was selling because he lost his job. Either that, or good fortune shined on him and he found a new job between now and when he first posted the ad.

Anyway, good luck with this and keep us posted.

Um yeah....dont sound right. Did you pay with PP? Maybe start a dispute so he cant book. If he is on the level and the heli does show up you can cancel the dispute. Any honest person should understand and shouldn't get too upset with you tying up his PP account until the heli arrives. He can always use the paycheck from the job he has now to cover rent LOL.

Default I just don't know

Hey guys, I just got an e-mail from him. Now he says that he promise to mail it by monday. In my understanding he already mailed it. I'll give him till Tuesday if he doesn't come up with a tracking number I'll dispute on PP, I payed as purchased. It just sucks getting ripped of on my hard earned money specially being out here in middle east thats supposed to be my moral booster. Well we'll see what happens. Thanks to all.

sometimes scammers will keep telling you that to try and drag the time limit out.

Im not saying this guy is a scammer, but like I said earlier, you can always cancel a dispute.

I don't have much patience for someone who doesn't do what he said the first time.

C.Y.A. is always a good rule.

good luck, I hope everything turns out right.

The guy has already been caught in at least one lie. He said he shipped it and couldn't find the tracking info. Now he says he'll ship it on Monday? I wouldn't wait one more second to file a dispute with Paypal. As already stated, if you receive the thing next week just cancel the dispute.

As Andy Taylor told aunt Bee "Call the man" (paypal).
I know the feeling, you buy a heli and you look forward to getting it, and are willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but Call the man.

Yup. It smells fishy alright, and it is starting to stink! Too much lies already. I'll go with the guys here, start with the PP claim / dispute and just take it off WHEN the item is already in your hands and everything is good.

File a dispute and cancel the dispute after the package arrives, just to make sure he don't send you a box of wood.

At this point you have caught him being dishonest... first he needed a job now he has one, he shipped it but lost the tracking, now he's going to ship it whenever.

File a dispute!!

i hope all heart string pullers are`nt considered scammers?
usually when i try to sell something its because i seriously need the money. i truely hate selling my heli stuff.

honestly, if you feel something is wrong, file a dipute.
paypal will ask the seller to provide proof of shipment, if he cant provide it, then paypal will rule in your favor.

Oh man. Can't believe this. Sold the same item to two HF members and gives the same excuse in his email? .

MCDO929, nice to hear that you got your money back.

backattack, e-mail him and try to get a refund.

We should really take off this PayPal gift thing in any sale transaction.

He won't respond to email...I called paypal and they are having their fraud dept. investigate it. I filed a fraud claim with my bank but will take some time for any result. I filed a fraud claim with IC3.gov. I hope I get my money back.

Lesson learned...NEVER PAY AS A GIFT!!
