Default 9650 OK for tail?

For you guys that are using the 9650s, are they OK for the tail as well?

Otherwise, what would you recommend to keep things light?

Thanks,
Lee

I dont know anyone using a 9650 on a 600!
You really need a fast tail servo for this heli like the 9254 that comes with a 401 combo.

Guess the 9650s just aren't fast enough. I'm getting a CSM SL720 Gyro I believe. I don't like the extra boxes on the 611s.

Cheers!

Don't know yet. I found a couple places online that handle them, but I'm checking with a couple of my "preferred" vendors first. Once I can confirm, I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks,
Lee

As you are seeing with the RotorWorkz frame 9650s can handle the cyclic BUT on a stock Trex600 they will be too small for the servo holes so you will need to hand make a adapter plate.

Bob:

Thanks. I found some CF Battery Trays from Team associated that I should be able to use to make some nice adapters in the mean time. Just wanted to be sure that the 9650 was OK on the stock frame from a strength/speed standpoint.

I ordered aS9254 Servo for the tail. I'm getting that and a CSM SL720 from Modefos. Have a wait a bit for the SL720, but I have a 401 to use in the mean time.

Thanks,
Lee

If you want a really fast light gyro servo look at the JR DS3400G.

Specs

Type: Digital Hi-Speed
Torque: 51 oz/in
Speed: .11 sec 60-deg @ 4.8v, .09 sec 60 deg @ 6v
Dimensions (WxLxH): .58" x 1.30" x 1.02"
Weight: 1.04 oz
Gears: Nylon
Application: Mini Gyro

Yes...its a mini servo that has more torque than the full size Futaba S9254

Too slow, get a 9256 for the tail and be Happy, happy happy. 0.06s at 4.8V. I t should be a sweet combo with the CSM 720.

So .03 sec makes that big a diff? Remember...these can run at a full 6v.

I got the 9254. The 9256 is only available with the 611 Gyro I believe.

Thanks,
Lee

HUH? might be good for the Trex450 but TOO small for the 600!

Come on guys... This is a 50 sized heli! STOP trying to put mini gear on it!

The GY401 Gyro rocks!!! Plain and simple... Don't let the 611 dazzle you too much. Yes it's nice but not really handy unless your a bad ass 3D pilot which I'm not. Get a 401 & 9254 and you will be smiling from ear to ear.

If your doing anything major backwards this is where the 401 will end..... For those growing and want a gyro to "follow" you to the next level you WILL need a 611..... I too thought the 401 was fine until I started backwards stuff.... That is where I found it's limitations.

I didn't think I'd be flying backwards either, funny how things turn out, non of this 'new-fangled' 3D flight. I've flown 401 gyros for the last 3 years, then I got a CSM SL720 and now I fly backwards at a great rate of knots regularly, I've been amazed at how much easier it makes flying helis, you young-uns should try a Futaba 154 with your actual spinning flywheels inside A 401 gyro is great - until you try something better.

CSM are working on their own flybarless system using 720 gyros, I can't wait.
