Default How many still flying CC BEC Pro?

Currently, I have my 600 ESP setup on 12S with a CC BEC Pro. I haven't had any issues so far and am fully aware of the recall that Castle has with these units. In addition, I visit this site frequently and am also aware of the many reported CC BEC Pro failures yet I still elected to use mine - go figure. However, this afternoon I did break down and purchase the WR Hercules 14S BEC and hopefully will soon have it on my bird for a piece of mind.

I was just wondering out of sheer curiosity are there any other helifreaks out there who still using the CC Bec Pro?

Have 2 brand new ones sitting in a spare parts box and that's where they will stay, not risking any of my rigs so like you went and purchased WR as replacements

I took mine off also. Might try it in a low-voltage airplane in the future, but I am not waiting for it to fail. I will use as little electronics as possible, like no-reg LiFe or liPo when possible.

I think it is much safer to use an inline regulator for the rudder-servo instead.

it's your nickle not mine, but I would strongly suggest you get rid of those CC BEC Pro for a more reliable unit or set up.

Removed mine from my 12S T600....using the stock BEC with external battery instead. Invested a lot on my heli to have it crash or hurt someone because of a faulty component. I did take apart the CC BEC Pro and found NO indications of any failures waiting to happen so, it will go back in service on 6s for my "beater" HK600......

Well, don't jump for joy just yet. I crashed my Gaui X5 this past weekend and its starting to smell like my WR BEC failed.

Thread is here:

If you have an opinion on this failure, please post in that thread so I can keep it all in one place. Thanks!

I think what what people often fail to consider is that CC sells lots of products, they have one of the largestmarket shares in the esc/bec market. Considering that, it's quite possible that their failure rate is being exaggerated by sheer volume compared to these other more expensive options.

I've heard of failures with all of the high end becs.

My concerns were great when building my 12s 600. I emailed Castle and was astonished by their openess and honesty. Based on that I built my bird with the CC BEC Pro and I have not had a problem at all.

Of course, if it failed and my expensive heli went down in flames, I might have a different opinion. That opinion would be the same with any of the other expensive BECs out there!
