Default Tail bounces back and forth when it stops

Ok I have a T rex 550 and when i pan the tail quickly to the left or right, it just doesnt come to a stop and stay there still like it should. Instead, it will Wag, or bounce back and forth real quick like before it actually comes to a rest. Ive adjusted the gain and its not it or at least i dont think. The tail pops back and forth and "wants to stop on a dime, but it has that tight wag or wiggle back and forth befor it actually "stays still" Any suggestions? Thanks, Dan

What hole do you have the ball on the servo arm, may be you need to use the next hole out and adjust the limits on the gyro? Do you have Flybar or FBL?

If it moves back and forth REAL fast after taking away the Piro input then it is probably your gain being too high.

If it moves back and forth in a lazy fashion then that could be many different things. Bad or slow servo, Gyro gain to low, Binding in the tail pitch mechanism (This can also cause a Twitch), Binding in Tail drive Mechanism, Helicopter Vibs, Mounting of the Gyro... to name just a few causes of wag but there are others.

If it moves past the point that you intended to stop and then moves back to the intended position with little or no oscillation, Gyro Delay is used to fix that.

+1
Delay is used to stop bounce after a piro stop.

Don't want to hijack thread but I am getting the same tail wag after a fast piro and after doing a flip. Adjusted the gain down and it has helped some. Could it still be the delay if it is doing it after a flip as well?

wow man, u sound like u know ur stuff.. I really do apreciate u taking ur time to inform me of all of those potential causes. the last thing u said about delay sounded more like my issues.. Whats delay and how do i fis it. By the way im flyn with all the electronics that came with the kit, 610's on the head and a 620 on the tail, with that align gyro that came with it. i think its a 780

The GP780 is a little strange, and not very accurate, when it comes to setting Delay.
The Delay is combined with the small/large heli mode and requires you to set the mode green/red light and then hold the stick in one direction, in some arbitrary amount, to add Delay.

How much are you adding when doing this? Who the heck knows?.
But trial and error and/or using the Monitor feature of the transmitter is really the only way.
The manual explains this fairly well in the gyro setup section.

If you have wag, in a hover, in addition to the bounce on piro stops then you might want to try setting the gyro to small heli mode even though the manual calls for large mode.
Some of us have found that wag is eliminated or reduced just by switching those modes.
I use small heli mode and some Delay and that seems to work best for me.

+1 on what WP said. I actually messed with the GP780 for weeks and could never get the tail to be the way I wanted it. I replaced the DS620 with an Outrage BL9088 and the tail was 100% better.

Just in the past month or so I replaced the GP780 with a Futaba GY520 and the tail is freakishly solid.
