Bearing oil on the motor coil.

Hi Guys,

I oiled the bearings of my scorpion motor with their oiling kit and some oil went inside the coil. After a while i went to fly and the esc was cutting off during flips. This have to do with the oiled coil, or i have to look for something else?

The pack that i was using at that time has 6 flights only. Motor is the 1600kv and ICE 75A, cutoff is set at AutoLipo @ 3V.

i dont know if this can cause a problem or not but i am sure i got a good amount of oil inside of my blade 400 motor when trying to oil the bearings a few times, nothing bad ever happened

I would have a good look over your connections 1st of all.
Then thoroughly bench test ESC.

Somehow the insulation of the red and yellow motor wires moved up, exposing them and they are touching each other. This is at the stator side. Can this be causing the early cutoffs?

Could well be, get them covered up and see if problem occurs again when testing with blades removed.

You can get some electric parts cleaner or some Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner from an autoparts store and spray out the motor. Just be sure to reoil the bearings (sparingly). The cleaner evaporates quickly.

I oil my motor quit generously, and I am sure at times some oil gets on the coils . I would say you have a issue with a short somewere else besides in the motor. If your motor wires touch and are not insulated well enough this would create your problem for sure. Hope you get this issue resolved before it takes you out of the shy the hard way .

Its not the motor, i flew this morning with a friend's 500M. First pack was ok, on the second i said to push it harder and there was cutoff, i was doing tic tocs, the blades stopped and i came down with a tail slide...
I checked the ice graph and the voltage stayed constant at the time where the current dropped suddenly. Can it still be problem of the esc?

I will strip down the heli and check everything.

I would check the battery , plus;what is your cut off set to on the ICE 75 ESC ?

It occured with both new and old packs.
I tried various settings Cutoff voltage at AutoLipo with Auto Lipo Volts/Cell @ 3V, then i set the cutoff voltage at 18V, and then i decided to set it at the lowest given for lipo which is 6V.

Well, problem found, the ICE failed the testing performed by CC and they are sending me a replacement. They didn't specify which test it failed..
