Default Help - Wonky Piroette Problem

I've got a 3G setup on a Trex-500 and it was fine with the V1 firmware, except for the nasty tail twitch...

I recently did the mod using E6000, left the tabs in and upgraded the firmware to 2.1

Now when I piroette it goes wonky. It stays kind of banked over and does a big wobble as it turns.

I've done the setup twice with the same results. The mod seemed to go fine and I'm sure the internal allignment has not changed. The sensor is mounted in the same place, flat and level, no tension on the cable. A single piece of foam (made for GY-520).

Started with the gains at 12:00 and now have them lowered down to the 9:00 position. It is stable in hover and forward flight is OK, but it feels strange and piroette is goofy.

Any ideas what is going on??

No idea, but if as you write hover and FFF are stable around cyclic, and cyclic throws a wobbly only during pirouettes, then check in the s/w under Misc Settings. At the bottom there's something that is ominously called Pirouette Optimum Adjustment. Haven't dared to touch this yet. You go first. I dare you

Turn the gains up mate, 9 0'clock is way too low & the control loops can't possily maintain a pirouette at that rate.

I started out at 12:00 and have turned them down from there in an effort to cure this problem. At 12:00 I had a little pitch bobble as well.

Use software to adjust your gains. lower piro opt levels, Go to a 4010 tape.

Just set one up for a customer who drove 90 miles to see me.

IT WILL BE WICKED fast! so adjust down in swash mix values to suite ur flying style.

We ended up with 3 tics of EXPO. Felt good.

PEACE!

OK, What is 4010 tape? I keep seeing references to it but what exactly is it and where can I get some?

I will check the CG, thats one thing I have neglected. It flew great with the flybar so I have assumed the CG was ok but I have heard that all the FBL systems are sensitive to CG.

Now if it would just quit snowing......

PS - Nice job on the mod video Jondabear!
