* 1.4 - 1.6 for basecoats and klears.
* 1.8 and bigger for primers. I believe Sharp makes a cheap gun called the titanium series, these guns come with a 1.4 needle and nozzle and 1.8 needle and nozzle so you can switch back and forth. I would get a good gun with a 1.4-1.6 fluid tip for laying down basecoats and klears and get a beater gun with a 1.8 fluid tip for laying down your primer! You have to sand primer anyways so who cares! Gary! |

Gary thank you for the fast reply!
![]() Problem is,i live in Greece and getting stuff overseas is a little difficult.Also i want to paint heli canopies usually 600 size and i find these guns to damn big for what i need!I mean they have a 1000cc tank!Smaller touch up guns have a 1.0mm nozzle which is too small...So the only solution is to go with the big fellas huh ![]() For the beginning,i'll only get one gun and use it as a beater later on that my finances permit me to buy a better one....If i get one with 1.8 or 2.0 nozzle will i be good all around?

I would get a 1.6 gun for an all around gun, this way you could still shoot primer but you might have to crank up the PSI's a lil bit and put and extra coat or two on for good measure! I run and iwata lph 50 for doing small stuff, it has a 1.0 tip and will spray all my basecoats, pearls and klears just fine! Primers are pretty thick and need a bigger tip to transfer the material more efficently.

Giorgos,
Here in the states, Metabo makes a good tool. I would say yes to that gun, it has the requirements and an all around 1.5 tip size. Trick is to keep it clean, when down, I pour out excess paint and put a splash of laquer thinner in it and swirl it around. Then hook back up and hold the trigger full bore. I like to use just enough laquer thinner that it'll spray out within 30 seconds. Next I do the same thing, but I don't spray it I just pull the trigger and let it run out the tip like a faucet, I'll do this twice to get it flowing klear without signs of residual paint. Sometime I will wipe the excess paint out of the gun with a paper towel to limit my use of laquer thinner. After rinsing the gun 2 or 3 times I break it down by removing the needle form the back, removing the air cap and fliud nozzle tip, and paint cup. Get your hands on some paint gun cleaning brushes and scrub a dub dub! Rinse with some clean laquer, which I keep in a sqeeze bottle that looks similat to a ketchup bottle but clear plastic and solvent resistant. Put your gun back together and it is ready for it's next mission! Good luck Gary! |

Gary i like the process of cleaning you describe
I'm glad i hear metabo makes a decent gun,because i couldn't find a review anywhere I based my purchase on the name of the company,the 3 year warranty and the structual image of the gun...I mean,it looks like a simple solid gun.

For the money that gun will give you the skills you will need to warrant spending the extra $ on a good name brand gun! You spray klear thru that gun for a year, then shoot klear thru a $600. Sata gun!
The body, and internals of that gun are probably made a name brand manufacturer for Metabo. They probably put cheap rubber orings and seals instead of teflon, solvents eat away at the rubber and make them swell which in time cause problems! Never soak the body of your gun or airbrush in solvent! Check this site out for kicks! www.tcpglobal.com Gary! |

Yeah Gary,i know...I never soak my airbrush in anything and i never use nitro.Also i check my teflon bearing in my airbrush regularly.
As for the gun,probably rubber it is.But i don't worry,if they fail or when they fail,i'll just send the gun to metabo...It's only 120 miles away and under warranty for 3 years
