Default Going FBL for the start of the season...MICROBEAST!

Been doing A LOT of reading, and am leaning heavily toward the MICROBEAST from BeastX. In fact, I almost pulled the trigger on one today.

But I'm undecided on which head to get. I can't decide between the Align or the Compass 6HV style head.

Problem is it requires a Futaba transmitter for now. That and the price. Wife and daugther are going to Florida for a week, so my budget is limited.

IMO, you can't go wrong with the BeastX. I have it on one of my 700s now and love it. Good price, simple set-up (no laptop), and it works!
I'm in the process of putting one on my 600.

I'm waiting on the release of the latest V-bar with the governor, it will certainly simplify my overall set-up with the inclusion of a governor and Rx.

Hello Bob_O;

Align and the Compass 6HV style head, both are good.

So far, go throught the Align manual setup on 3G, it is very simple.

Then, i download the MICROBEAST manual, it seem to be very complex.

Here is the pics on Align 600 3G

Here is the FBL Controller Unit, FL760

This is me and the Align 3G.

It is not for the start of the season, but rather the rest of your heli life....

Nice pics... And yes, for the rest of your heli life! I cant wait to get the funds to get my carbsmart and FBL.... Sigh, dreams in the meantime. While Im on the thought, OS 55HZ or FBL? I dont do any 3d yet, and with proper collective management the 55 really isnt needed. Thoughts?

Hello Siconic,

I also don't do any 3D yet, just inverted.

I did on forward flight, 540 stall turn, big loop, roll and eye level auto rotation.

So far so good. Align does it again.

my fbl 55 has plenty of power
It may take you awhile to get used to the "feel" of a FBL

I would vote for FBL first, the OS 55 later. The reduced drag of FBL will give you a bit of a power boost and you can experience FBL for yourself sooner!

Just ordered the MICROBEAST!!

Still undecided on which FBL head to go with. I just read today where Align has redesigned their FBL heads to incorporate the swash driver as an integral part of the head block. I'll wait a few weeks to see what develops there.

You might consider the Synergy 50 size flybarless head. It is very clean and works well with my MicroBeast. http://synergyrchelicopters.com/?p=300.

Good choice on the Microbeast BobO!

I have the new style 3G headblock on a 700 and it's pretty slick.
No question of phasing whatsoever with the swash driver arms bolted directly to the head. Some people have said that they prefer the KDE version because its beefier but, the Align head is no smaller than their original head and I don't think anyone had a problem breaking headblocks before; and it's $40 cheaper.

Plus, you get to continue to use stock parts which is a big plus for me.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts, once you get your FBL machine in the air!

I'm going to shed come weight from my heli with this FBL conversion.

My current setup has a 5.7 ounce TP 2S 7.4V 3600mah receiver pack, and a 1.1 ounce Fromeco Sahara regulator.

I'm going to swap both those out for a 5.0 ounce, 2100mah 6.6V LifePO4 battery.

Also, I had been using 1.25 ounces of lead on my tail boom clamp to get proper CG with the regulator and heavy battery, so I'll be able to remove that as well for a total weight reduction of:

3.05 ounces!!
