Default trex 600 landing skid/tail fin

can these parts fit on trex 500 to help balance or tail strike? also what other parts can be substitute on 500 for newb that crash more due to mistake etc that will given durability or balance.

Readyheli or Helidirect sell a longer 500 tail fin that does a good job of keeping the tail rotor off the ground.

The 600 skids will fit with just a minor modification to the skids (The holes don't line up so you have to drill your own holes on the skids)

I like the skids because they give you a wider base to the helicopter plus gives you a little higher stance (I put the longer tail fin on and it was REAL close to the ground with the 500 skids but with the 600 skids it looks like stock height again)

As a noob I had fear of a tail strike. I made a longer fin from some lexan I had laying around. I gave it a good sanding and painted it the same yellow as my canopy. You can tell its "home made" but until it breaks or I get better...its good enough for now.

I don't think the bolt holes match up. Not an insurmountable problem though.

I run the Fusano XL fin for the Trex 500 and sadly it is not much longer than the stock ESP fin...See pics:

I am lucky enough to be able to take off and land from a paved runway or a cement heli pad at my local field, so I have been blessed with no rear tail-blade to ground contact thus far! Fingers crossed as I probably just jinxed myself...LOL!

I bought an extra long tail fin from Grandrc that is orange. It's about a half inch longer than the stock. Where you fasten it to the verticle holder you may need to add a washer or you can as I did trim a small piece of the fin near the tail boon so it fits just right.

cboo: what brand is it? I would love for mine to still be a little longer.

That doesn't look like the XL fin to me. The one I have is clearly 15mm or more longer.

I ordered mine a year ago when I built my kit. I'm sure at the time they were advertised as 20mm longer (which mine is) but now I only see 15mm longer. Odd.
I even looked at the old invoice online and it shows it as an XL but no part number.
