The 17 Series motors feature high quality oversized bearings, sintered Neodymium magnets, superior electromagnetic design, and rigorous engineering control in our own factory.
The 1717-1500 has 2 flats milled on it. Flat to flat is 46mm. Off the flats the can diameter is 49.5mm. The 1717-1500 will work on the Align Trex 600 with motor mount mods (holes opened up for larger screws to fit holes in the motor).
Applications: Trex 600, 4mm bolts. Requires small mod to motor mount for 4mm bolts. 6mm output shaft. 14t pinion, 2250-2300 HS. Use with Phoenix Ice 100.

I have two of these motors. I have installed one on my TRex 600 CF with the KDE motor mount. I have to go back and reprogram my CC Phoenix Ice 100. I emailed Castle about how many poles are in this motor. This is the reply.

"These are 4 pole in-runner motors and I believe they will run best with 8-12 PWM and normal timing. I would try 8 PWM and then try 12 to see which gives lower temps and the best sound."

I have to set this yet. I am working on two TRex 600 CF, FBL VBar, 6S one with this motor and one with the Neu 1515H/2.5D-1650Kv. I will set the governer in the ESC to a set head speed. 1800 rpm, 1900rpm and 2000rpm.
Thanks Ken

Yup,I got the same Email .What I think i'll need help with is setting up the gov because I never used one on a electric ..

Lon,

The 1717 will not work in a T-Rex 600 on 8s, it is a 6s motor. It is a 4 pole magnet, 12 slotted stator motor. Use 12 kHz for PWM rate and normal or low timing. Go to low timing only if the motor runs hot in your set up.

I would shorten those battery and ESC wires as much as possible. Turn your packs around the other way. That much length will be hard on the caps of your ESC. Here's a pic of my setup.

The castle sounds wicked doesn't it.

I may have to actually go ahead and throw the 14T pinion on for a flight just to hear that scream. Mine sounds good, but that was just awesome!

Will that motor fit in the stock frame without modifications?
