Default Long term flight experience Aeolus 50 3D GF – part 2

Hello again,

Nobody likes it, if someone flying an other brand (in this case my good buddy Sandro) touches your bird and after a while asks you, if a certain play or movement on your bird is common or just wear ?

This happenend around 2 monthes ago, when my buddy hold the levers mounted on the elevator-arm-lever and stirring around asked me, why the elevator-arm-axle had so much play ? First thought he was kidding me, then took a look myself and indeed, the axle guided by the 2 flanges in each side-frame had lots of play.

Removing the levers and looking at the axle guided by the 2 flanged-bearings showed, the flanged-bearings themselves having some play on their mounting-hole on the side-frames.

Solution:

1.) remove the levers on the outer side of the side-frames
2.) degrease the side-frame’s around the flanged-bearings (inside and outside of each side-frame)
3.) use some JB-weld arounf the flanged-bearing and on the side-frames
4.) whipe away excessive JB-Weld
5.) use some water or alcohol on your finger, to make the JB-weld surface look nice

Meanwhile both of my modified Aeolus 50 3D GFs have this mod and after many hours still w/o play.

I guess, I’m not the only one with this issue – fortunately this can be solved very easely. Would be intersting to know, whether some of the guys with CF-frames eperienced the same ?

So check your bird and mod if required,
Best Regards,

Oliver
