Default PSA: Bearing failure = blades fly off of the heli randomly towards your face

Just happened to me - i blocked it with my hand and it made me bleed. Would have lost an eye for sure if i wasn't lucky enough to already have my hands up near my face.

2nd mid-air crashless grip failure in 20 minutes! Second one was fresh out of the package, on its second flight. No prior crash, just a random sharp missile flying straight at my face.

Did you replace the grip and feathering shaft or just the grip? (just curious)

Grips and feathering shaft. I made sure the orientation of the stepped washers was consistent with how it came in the package (step facing out), and made sure the linkage ball was leading the grip.

Not 1 minute into the second flight and the BRAND NEW GRIP comes flying off at my face. Good thing i have lightning hands.

With reflexes like that, you should be a hockey goalie.

Even though this is a small heli flying blades is still dangerous. If that happened to my 450 I don't think I'd want to fly again.
It can be classed as user error if the heli was crashed and not checked. But brand new, how are you managing that?

This is my first CP heli and I have to say when it threw a blade it scared me so much I didn't fly it in my house for a few days. That thing was like a bullet, you lucked out that you blocked it.

Now I always give the blade grips a nice hard tug whenever I takeoff regardless if I crashed or not.

It's like a flying upside down lawnmower of DOOM! But it's fun !

Really you should always wear safety goggles when flying nearby and checking tracking etc. Only got two of them
