Default Servo comparison

I know its been covered before, but which is better:

ds610 vs bls451

ds650 vs bls251

I have 3 used bls451(100 ) and bls251 same amount of flights. And I have brand new ds610's and ds650. And I dont know which to use in the 700e.

well i myself would go with the futabas even with the 100 flights on them. but i have heard good and bad about the akign servos but im sure they will work and work well but the futaba servo will be much more precise imo

I would recommend the BLS 251 for the tail. The 610's have been fine on my cyclic where the 650 did not give me the rock solid tail with the VBar I wanted.

Did you take the time and compare the specs on each servo? ......the ALIGN servos have more speed and more torque than the Futaba's, (at 4.8v and at 6.0v) and the ALIGNs are cheaper in price. Maybe the Futabas are made better (idk), but I would choose ALIGN. Do some research and find what works for you.

I guess itīs also a matter of flying style as the BLS451 as well as the higher end BLS 253/252 has better centering and precision. If you fly smackdown or hard 3D my guess would be the alignīs do their job *just* as well since the servos will pretty much work constantly back and forth? I canīt fly 3D even if my life depended on it so i donīt know.

Certainly the F3C crowd seems to prefer the higher end futabaīs or JRīs so i guess they are stronger in the precision/centering department as well as longevity. What i do know from my limited experience as a newb is that precise servos do make a difference regarding stability in hover diciplines. Less chasing the heli around due to poor centering.

IMHO, unless you are seriously skilled and have specific needs one should not get too hung up on servo speed/torque.

I am by no means a skilled pilot but I am trying to compare that way when I do become skilled that I don't need to switch the servos. This will be a flybarless heli with a beastx running on it.

Default servos

Bls 253s are the same as 451 but the deadband is blueprinted.

I have great luck with the 610s and LOVE that 3 of them are roughly the same price as 1 Futaba.

The 650 on tail rotor I did not have luck with, but plenty of folks do just fine with them.

+1

The DS610s actually fly great! I have them on a 700N (@7.4v) and JR8917HVs (@7.4v) on the 700E. Honestly, they both fly close to the same. The JRs have more torque which I can feel but the 610s are very snappy too.

The great thing about Futaba servos is they draw less current, are smoother and more precise, and tend to be slop free longer.

With a 2S 2200 lipo, can fly for 35 minutes on the 610s and 15 minutes with the 8917s. I have a bunch of 2S packs so it's all good but that's one heck of a difference!

Either way you choose you'll be good.

The tail is a different story. The DS650 is adequate but the BLS251 is in a league of its own. I would strongly recommend investing in the 251

Well I decided to sell off the ds610's and ds650. Going to stick with the bls451's and bls251.

Good choice futaba specs are just paper specs in my experience. I tried many different servos but tenden to go back to futaba servos. They have amazing centering and holding power which make them a very able servo even for 700 direct swash drive setups like the 7hv and tdr I have yet to see any slop in the futaba servos I own, even in the monster truck steering servo it's good (same as your swash servos) they are very kind on power draw too.

When it comes to tail I myself prefer the 251 over all but top end mks and jr are equally good

Enjoy your flying
