Hello !
I have buy an J-log but I can not get conection cable for Jeti duplex anywhere. It is avaliable on SM-modeau online shop, but they are on holidays until 25 of May....... But I need a cable soo umuch now...... Is there any other shop beside SM-online shop to hold this cable on stock ? I have one old fasion cable for UNILOG ( Art.Nr.: 2555 ) and Jeti duplex is there any option to tuned this cable to bee good for conection J-log with Jeti duplex? Regards

With optocoupler... Should work.., but never tested it.
Dealers: http://www.lindinger.at http://www.der-schweighofer.at http://www.mhm-modellbau.de http://www.freakware.de http://www.hobby-factory.com Maybe more... We have 4 pins: COM-1:+3.3V(Vcc)..not used here --- COM-2:GND --- COM-3:Rx --- COM-4:Tx We need to shortcircuit RX and Tx because this is a 1-wire-bus... There're 1:1 COM cords also..., a cheap base to assemble a JR plug onto it. JETI-side: Only signal and GND is connected, NOT (+) voltage. (The non-OC cord from SM contains a connector and resistors also, but that is not required here.) Tom |

Is possible to power Duplex receiver via that cable, from that 3.3V?
It should only transmit data, no servos or anything.

No, Petr!
@1 The voltage regulator of the logger would be overloaded by that. @2 There is a protective series resistor in between. @3 From my experience a JETI Rx does need rather high voltage.. Its transmit power is already low at 4.. 4.2 volts supply voltage. Tom |

No problem, i will make Y cable for secondary Jive BEC output.
You know our email conversation - no luck yet with that device or my friend speaking with responsible person...

Oops, you did use the opto cable?!
I thought that you intended to use the blank cable and soldered a JR connector to the other end. Didn't you order a cable from one of the sources I have named here? Tom |

Hello Tom !
I have goog and the baad news ! Firs the good news : the cable work yust fine ! And now the baad news : I have smoked my J-log, is seems the element on the picture is burned out. Can I replace this element by my selve ( I em a quite exspirienced in smd welding, I yust need the typ of element to replace it ) What hapened ? I was soo hapy when I have seen the telemetry data on the display , soo I have konect the motor and put a litle trotle on my radio, the motor just jumped from my hend and damaged the cable wich comes from the jive to j-log ( the orange wire ), this damaged cable come in short circut with plus lead of main batery for a very short time...........................j-log smoked. So plase help what can I doo, I em such a idiot...... Regadrs

Hi HSC,
condolences.. The yellow wire of the cord JLog <--> JIVE is (+) of the supply voltage. It came in contact with (+) of the main battery?! How many S? Hopefully you didn't burn the PTC resistor inside the JIVE (between (+) of the "diagnostic connector" ("jumper connector") and internally (+) Ubec). Hmm.. The burned thing is an electrolytic capacitor, SMD 68uF 6V. (That Elco stands parallel to the supply voltage. It is needed for applications in which two JLog-own sensors are connected via an adapter and one of the sensors is the analog temperature sensor. The capacitor smoothes the voltage to avoid that ripple disturbing the analog sensor. The ripple come from the BEC because it is a switching regulator (buck converter). In using an adapter, the raw supply voltage is to be used for the sensors, and thus the capacitor have to be placed directly on the raw input voltage. Thus we get a stringent limit on the part of the supply voltage: 6 volts at max, no voltage reversal, - although the following voltage regulator is good for up to +/- 25 volts. ) Behind the capacitor a diode and then a voltage regulator MIC 5205 follows (3.3 volts out), let's hope wether this is damaged nor the processor did see high voltage!..... It was the worst thing which can happen... The logger still works? Close to the capacitor there is a diode CDBU0245 mentioned above, which is in series with the supply voltage, in front of the regulator. It may happen that this diode will be damaged by the heat of the burning capacitor. The consequence is that the regulator input does see no or too low voltage, - the logger's processor will not run or only if higher voltage is supplied. Would be a good idea to give the PCB in the hands of someone who have some experience with electronics. Or you send it in to SM-Modellbau for repair. Tom |
