Default trex 600e pro questions!

hey guys i just have a few questions about the t-rex 600e PRO FBL that i'll be ordering by the end of this month!

1. does a FBL heli need a pitch gauge?
2. What 2s battery will you be running for the servos/3GX/receiver?
3. how good are the Align brand 6s 3300mAh batteries?
4. What batteries will you guys be running/ which would you recommend besides thunder power (Can't afford those )

if you could answer thos you would save alot of headaches and stress!! thanks alot!!!

kyle!

1. Yes!
2. I prefer to run a BEC. I'll be using a WR Hercules Super BEC
3. I have a new set of the 40C with 5 flights and so far they perform great. Long term, who knows?
4. I like Voltz 3700mah 35C. Very compact, and good for slightly longer flight times. Only 550g each. But 3300mah is going to be the standard setup.

Any 2s 1800 and up will be perfect. I would go with a 2100 or 2700mah rx pack.

oh okay thank you! i will look into the BEC, but i might still use a battery!

for the pitch gauge what do you guys think of the Align dial pitch gauge or the JR universal pitch gauge.
and for batteries its between the align 6s 3300mAh 40C but at first i heard align's batteries were not good, so then i was thinking about getting some Turnigy's, which i heard good reviews on. i was just wonder how comfortable you guys would feel putting Turnigy's or those Tunigy nano-tech batts into a big bird like the 600?

thanks guys!

Default ASAP!! please

Hey guys,
I'm sorry for asking so many questions!! but i would really love to know this before tomorrow since im going to my LHS to talk about getting the 600efl

okay what would you guys suggest the Castle Creations BEC PRO V2 or a receiver 2s battery? i thought the BEC's would be alot more $$ but they are about the same as a battery so which would you choose!

also for main batts which setup would you use!
2x Align 6s 22.2V 3300mAh 40C + (1x Align 2s 7.4V 1900mAh 40C)
2x Venom 6s 22.2V 3200mAh 30C + (1x Venom 2s 7.4V 2400mAh)
2x Venom 6s 22.2V 3600mAh 25C + (1x Venom 2s 7.4V 2400mAh)
2x Turnigy 6s 22.2V 3300mah 30C + (1x Turnigy 2s 7.4V 1800mAh or 2200mAh or 2450mAh or 2650mAh)

i put the receiver battery in brackets, i added those just incase you chose battery over BEC!
also if you chose turnigy batts, which mAh would be a good receiver batt?

also to add, my flying style would be for sport flying, rolls, loops, forward flight, hovers, just just like that. I would prefer longer flight times over power for 3D which setup would be best??

thank you so much!!!!!! if i could get answers before noon tomorrow that would help me out so much!

is it really that hard to choose?

I personally don't trust BEC on 12S give it WR or CC I don't care, they both have bad history, so I run a BEC with a 2s Lipo and govern to 6.2v (Stock servos).

now to main packs, any pack would work to be honest with you. I've flown my 600e pro with my 2650s from my 500 and some 3300s for my 12s 550E and also tried 4200s and 5100s(strapped without the tray), anything would fly and it only comes down to what flying style youre asking for and what youre capable of.

if you just want something to practice your skill then get the 4200s and you get extra flying time. if you can do on deck smackings then 3300s is your friend. I do both F3C and F3D and I have almost a dozen Electric 50- 90 size so I have plenty of packs to fly my 600e pro.

my personal preferrence are the Voltz 35C 4200s and 45C 4500s, cuz they both fit fine and give me enough power and enough flying time to suite my flying style. Not to mention they can be use on 550 and 700e (my e-aurora, e-kasama, Sylphide, Vibe-90 all use these packs too)

P.s. I don't give a sh!t how people thought of those Turnigys, I had bad bad bad experience with them and in this game, you get what you pay for!

I wouldn't get cheap and spend $70 bucks to risk of getting a defect pack which you don't get warranty of

okay thank you! yes i went to my LHS today and he said the same! so im going with a receiver battery, and not turnigy batteries!

i have not heard any reviews on the align or venom 6s lipos. could anyone help me out on that??
its between align 3300mAh 40c or Venom 3600mAh 25C....

i was also reading about the weight and size of batteries and the align 2s 1900mAh 40C battery is a little shorter but its "thicker" and actually weighs 3g more than the venom 2s 2400mAh 5C

so its more of a Venom vs Align lipos!
remember its more for sport flying, rolls, loops and hovers!

also how are you guys liking the new 600e Pros?

You could connect your BEC PRO over only one of the flightpacks. Never heard of one failing on 6S.

Although minimal, you will end up discharging one battery pack more than the other. I'm personally not a fan of this method.

I'd go with the Align Lipos. IMO a better quality pack, and able to deliver more current.

Really? I've had nothing but great service from hobbycity. Only had 1 questionable pack (out of probably close to 50) I recently ordered 8 new turnigys for this 600 one of which had bad readings on one cell (probably could have been fixed) I sent the pack back (us address) and they have shipped me a new one.

Good products and service imho

Speaking of batteries I ran into a conundrum on that. The new 600e PRO, can you run this one on 6s like previous incarnations? As in is it electrically configured to only run 2 battery packs? (yes I know it's considered syrup-in-tuba slow with 6s, but I'm on a intern's budget here lol. I'd get more 6s batts when more heli funds come up). Really wanted to take the leap into 50 size birds but I've got just enough cash in the "disposable heli" wallet division for 1 good 6s + heli kit + rx.

You'd have to buy a new motor with a higher kV to make it work which totally negates any battery savings.

Just get some cheap 3000mah 20C packs. For sport flying they are more than fine and can be had for $40 ea.

That's good to know thanks for the advice/info Snap

How long do you think flights would be on 3000 packs for sport flying? 4.5 minutes maybe?

3000 may be a little on the low side. I can't guess yet what a flight time with that would be. Govern your headspeed to 2100 for decent sport flying and see what you get.

Only experience I can draw from is my logo 600. I run it on 10s 4000 packs at a hs of 2150 and flight times are at 6 minutes for 3d. I could push it to 7 or 8 with light sport flying and a lower hs easy. So based on my numbers a 3000 12s would be about 10% less total capacity so you should still be able to expect 5 to 6 minute flights with no problem.

I just bought some 3600 turnigy 30c packs. shipped they were $55 (from USA warehouse) which is not bad at all. So a "set" is $110 which is good for a decent 12s pack. I bought 2 sets to see how I like the power and flight times. I imagine I will be getting decent times with 3600 considering it's amost 10% more capacity than my logo setup.

Yep, I ran the 3600 x2 12s setup in my Logo 600 for year. At 2200 RPM hammering away I'd get 5m flight times.

Sport flying on 3000mah packs at ~ 2000RPM should easily yield 5-6m flights. You don't need the high C packs as well if you're not pushing things hard. 20C will do really well on a 12s sport flying setup.
