Default Oh No! I just found trex 450 pro bare bones kit.

My wife is going to kill me. She will have no idea why I need two 450 pros. Well one flybarred and one fbl. I have thought about converting my pro to FBL for sometime but I dont like fixing something that aint broke. Now I can get the barebones kit off of hobby-wing.com for 240 bucks and put all my own electronics. I want to put the following into it. I need some suggestions though.

Kontronic speed controller- what would go good with the pro
Scorpion motor- what is the common one used in a 450 and what bearing should I get to upgrade the stock ones.
MKS DS95 cyclics and DS95i rudder
RJX FBL head and Microbeast.

It will be some time as I can't afford everything I want all at once. I need to get a new charger and the one I want and power supply are going to cost me a few hundred. I want a Gaui X5 but I want to wait to my wife finishes school so I can afford the crash costs. I think I am addicted would you agree?

Yep, you are addicted and you need to get therapy right away. I suggest you seek professional counselling at Helifreak.com Never mind, they're all addicts there!

i'd buy here, for roughly $26 more depending on shipping, you get it faster and with the motor and ESC. keep them as spare, trade or sell.

http://www.performanceplusrc.com/ser...450-Pro/Detail

the scorpion HK2221-8 is a very nice motor and has more guts then the 450M, the power is great and you don't give up too much air time.. the next step up is the HK2221-6. the bearings are hit or miss. but they are only $3. just inspect them before you put them in.

or just get a 500. just think of it as a stretched 450 running 6S.

Better yet, while you are at it do the 6s upgrade since you are planning to buy a new motor anyways. And scrap the beastx since they seem to get dumped regularly on the F/S forum for a reason and upgrade to at least the Vbar. The beastx cannot utilize the super fast tail servo pulse speed since you have to program it in. To do this takes at least the Vbar or the Sk-720. Then do a 350 blade upgrade with a boom stretch. You now have the ultimate 450 setup with the ultimate tail gyro to take advantage of the incredible mks Ds95i servo. The Vbar/Sk-720 can also be specifically programmed to utilize the faster servo cyclic speed. The beastx cannot.

Which speed is that? I have my microbeast setup to use a working frequency of 760us/560Hz, which is the fastest that I know of.

Edit: nevermind.. I looked over the cyclic part. The MB cyclic is limited to 1520/200Hz, I believe.

I have no experience with fbl and what I've read in the user manual the beastx looks the most simple to setup. Would this not be an ok unit to use since I have no help except the online support I get from all of you guys. I would like to start off simple and the I could always get the vbar once I become more familiar with setting these things up. And second I have read alot of people like the microbeast because it works well and its simiple to settup. no computer needed. no purchasing updates. I would like the mini vbar as soon as it has the governor built into it and i read they plan to but they dont have a date set yet. I would get it and take the added setup dificulty. I usualy end up over thinking things and then they end up being much easier than I anticipate. Plus cant you use two sattalites with the mini vbar. I think I'm talking myself into the v-bar as I type.

Don't listen to people telling you to "dump" the Beast.

Very simple to set up and always works with very little tinkering needed. Plus you don't need to lug around a laptop!

It is the most simple to set up out of all of them, my response was in reference to whether or not it can fully take advantage of Ds95s. It cannot. But it probably wont matter since most cannot fly at the level where it would surface. Just this last week I have seen over a dozen of them for sale. Most are moving up.

Understood. Since the OP stated that he has no experience with FBL setups, I was just trying to convey that the Beastx is the perfect choice for someone who's considering converting to FBL due to their ease of set-up and performance.

Anyway, have fun!

Peace

Would one satalite be safe on a 450 if I do buy a microbeast. I thought one place I could mount it so that it is amost always in direct line of sight with my tx would be on the horizontal tail stabalizer fin.

Yes, but redundancy is better. If you mount one on the lead edge of your body and one back on the boom if one fails you have the other one.

I thought the micro beast only had one port for a satalite if you are not going to use a main reciever.

That is correct. Currently the Beastx has functionality for just one remote receiver. We are all hoping that in the near future the unit will be able to support 2 remote receivers.

I better do more homework. I assumed all the Fbl systems had two ports. It is a safety issue, especially on the larger framed helis with CF bodies. It only has one? Incredible.
