Default What happened to all the tail case gears?

Everybody is out of stock, even Century. Oh, for my Raven and everything those gears shoehorn into.

What other sources have you tried?

Have you checked on the steel upgrade units?

I've tried all the likely suppliers. Everybody seems to be out of stock. I thought about the metal gears but the way I've been flying, I'd rather sacrifice a $4 set of gears rather that the rest of the tail drive system.

I guess I'll just hurry up and wait for stock to arrive. On the bight side.... I'm not crashing 'course I'm not flying either.

You might want to try some sources in Canada.

With Tower you have to be a member to deal with them ,or you pay full bore.If you where a member shipping may have even been free depending on the item.Kind of a scam but you can get some really good deals.

I do get promo e-mails from Tower. Maybe if I get a free shipping e-mail I'll give it a go.

Of course I'll have to spend $100 to get the free shipping

Check with any shipping company. There is always a minimum for shipping a traceable package. Most of the time that minimum is $8.00 to $10.00.

So if you only order something worth $12.00, the shop may only have a profit margin of $4 or $5 at best. So if they sold it to you and did not charge the shipping they would lose $4.00 to $6.00 dollars on the sale. I don't think they would stay in business for very long doing so.

On the other hand. some smaller shops will sent via standard envelope mail (untraceable) on such small parts and the shipping cost may only be a buck or two.

This is what Ron's Heliproz does. One order only cost me $3 for shipping. Kind of spoils ya. I think my last order was like $6 or so. Ordered $30 worth of parts including a set of blades. Ron's has the most affordable shipping around. Over $100 and it's free

I agree, Ron's Heli Proz is one of my favorite mail order suppliers

As for the free shipping on orders of $100.00 or more. As MR explained, that is probably why there are so many mail order sellers who offer free shipping over $100.00. Of course they all have limitations relative to the size of the box, as all shipping companies charges are relative to a size/weight formula.

Usually they will make enough profit margin $$'s to cover the shipping and still have enough left over to make it worth while. This is not so on a small $10 to $50 order.
