Well, I don't feel as bad after reading this post. After getting the Trex600, I'm just over $3,500 in 3 months. I gotta rein this addiction in.

I always have lots of regrets in this hobby.....

One of them is, I wish I knew my headspeed before I tried my first flip. I really wanted it to be successfull.

Another one is I wish I bought scorpion motor before prices went up.

I've been doing this off n on for 22 years. The last five or six years, my wife says I average about $8-10K per year. She's even got the statements to prove it! That doesn't all go to actual models, though. That includes travel expenses to events, contests, and the Nationals for a week every year. A large portion was also fuel when I flew Nitro on my contest models.

i brought a trex 100 to keep me entertained when i was off work ill about 2 months ago and thats when it all went down hill lol

£130 with some extra batterys. sold that for £60

brought a 120 sr with extra batterys and parts. £120. sold that for £80

Dx6i £85

MCP x and batterys and parts £160

then brought a trex 600 £300 + RX £50+ 2 batterys £150 + charger £110 + 2 crashes £130 + battery checker £20 + training gear £15

desided that the 600 cost to much to crash so 2 days ago i brought a 450 PRO £200 + 4 batterys £80= new canapy £20, flight case £40 trainning gear £10

Thats where I am today. hopfully it will slow down abit now. I could really do with a 1000w charger, a few more batterys, a deep cycle or generator and a few bling bit for the 450 and spare parts from chinna

so thats a total of £1475.... £1475 this is the first time i worked it out lol

PS, running over my DX7 with the car the other day didn't help either!

It's like my gun prayer:
God, if I die, please don't let my wife sell my helis for what I told her they cost.

Umm.... I lost count after $15,000

My last heli, the Logo, retail would be around $2200, including 4 flight packs!

And like I said I had well over 15,000 in Align product, and batteries.

My spending has slowed, though the Logo is pricey, it is very low maintenance, and batteries are much cheaper now!

I've been buying and crashing RC Heli's for about 4 years. It started with a Blade 2. I really got into it this year with the purchase of a Blade 120SR, DX6i, charger, 2 batteries. Then I purchased a used TREX500 clone (EXI), more parts and electronics to repair and the Real Flight Sim 5.5 plus one of the extra kits because it had the Trex 500 in that module.

I guess, I'm about $1200, but as I plan to try and add Video and photography from the air into my current business, I would expect to spend $10K or more before the spring of 2012, when I will begin to market that service.

I am happy to have done what I have so far, but need more confidence, and better building confidence.

Keep Flying!

Hahahahahaha - my wife would strongly resent that comment.

I stopped counting about 6 months into my Heli quest, been 3 years now.

your poll doesn't go high enough. I'd be in the 15 to 20k range. I know people that would easily be over 100K

Amen to that. In my case, "years ago" equates out to somewhere between 1987 and 1990? I started flying RC with helicopters in 1982 and was well over $1,000 after the first year.

As others have said, at this point, I don't want to know what the entire totol is!

Fly Safe,
