Default Fast ATOM500...how fast?

I'm the only heli pilot in our club and my ATOM500 really seems to wow the guys with its speed.
Has anyone ever clocked a flybarred atom in its stock form?
The club guys are guessing 70 mph or so...does this sound close?
It really does rip for an "out of the box" heli.
thanks

Interesting question. Barnstormers 6hv was clocked at 69 but he was not really trying. I think we could see upwards of 80. I do some nice flybys once the packs are warmed up and 70-85 seems in the right spot. I will ask our club prez to clock me tonight if he is there and has the gun with him.

I got mine up to 65 mph at a fun fly last year, clocked with a radar gun, and I wasn't even giving it everything it had because I was terrified. 80 wouldn't be out of the question. I know the 6HV will go at least 88 mph in the hands of an advanced novice/lower intermediate (mine, also clocked with a radar gun, this year).

Experience is something you gain only after you need it.
I wouldn't mind social media so much if it didn't involve people.

Out of the question? Put 15MPH tailwind on it give her hell I bet you could better 80. Calm day yeah 80 does seem a bit much for the stock setup.

I hit 69 not even pushing it, on only the second time I had my 6hv out.
I had a few passes that were WAY faster after (one was so fast it scared me) but the radar gun did not pick them up. I think 90 or 100 mph would not be that hard to hit.

The 65 mph I mentioned above was with my Atom 500. And, as I said, it had more in the tank. I was just too scared to push it any harder.

yes ,I read that.
you should let her eat Bum...its very exciting, the sounds it makes is wicked and its good to blow the carbon out of it occasionally.
(just an old saying...yes I do realize there is no carbon build up with an electric motor)
maybe one of the plankers in my club has a radar gun.

Not to mention that an electric heli has no tank.

I strapped a GPS on my 6hv on a calm day and dialed in about 15 degrees of pitch and hit 99 mph. That was with fairly tired packs too, it looks noticeably faster with my new ones

I would say mine easily goes 70mph. Never clocked it, but I've put it up next to my 6HV on back-to-back flights and it definitely cooks for how small it is. Also to consider, Kyle Dahl's 4K headspeed 450 Pro was almost keeping pace with Dave K's 6HV on 11t. With it being a 500 and 6S capability, I wouldn't doubt if it could hit around 80 to 90 on mostly stock setups. A lot of it just depends on how you have it set up. They usually won't do it all on just one rate so you'd have to cheat it a little bit and I think pilot skill comes in a LOT at that point.

I suspect mine will go faster now that it's FBL. It was sure screaming when I re-maidened it on Saturday.

Gps measured a 6hv to 203kmh think that translates to around 125mph, 500 is close but not as quick as that, 7hv is even faster.

Our bunch had a radar gun the other week and clocked 125km/h ..... doing the conversion to MPH gives me 78??? mph .. that sounds too fast !
This was the 500 Flybarred from a hectic climb and dive to level out !
Same MO on 6HV with a bit of a breeze got 136km/h ....
We clocked the TDR at 190 km/h with the same radar gun .... seems reasonable .
GPS on TDR gave similar results .
But must agree that out of the box the Atom is a beast !
Busy doing FBL conversion with BeastX .... thanks Alan for your thread.

Diving like that is cheating as far as I'm concerned. When mine was clocked at 65 mph, the run started on a relatively gentle slope.

who said gravity wasn't your friend ..... .
We know it's "cheating " in the real race sense ...Thanks but we were getting carried away as most boys do !
Promise we'll do it right the next time.
