Hello all,
I'm in the process of contacting a pinions manufacturer to get them made in the following specs: Hardened Steel 1.5mm Bore 3mm Height 0.3 Modulus 7T, 8T These are going to be hardened steel so wear is not an issue, it is far better than brass pinion in term of durability and integrity as you all know the 7T/8T pinion with 1.5mm hole gets real thin around the base of the teeth which can compromise the integrity of the pinion especially with powerful brushless motor mod and super high headspeed, hardened steel should tremendously strengthen it in this area. They are the same factory that made high quality Rhino hardened steel pinions that we and many other place sold and used on larger helis. The problem is there is a min 1000pcs/size for any new pinion to be produced and i don't know if im going to be able to make such investment and not knowing how much of interest is out there as we are looking at 2000pcs buy in. At the moment, i have not gotten any details on pricing or if they would be able to make it such, but once i do may be we can get some fund together and make this happen. Hoping for the best, Louis aprohobbies.com |

Yeah, I'm definitely in for the 7T and 8T. Depending on price, I'll grab a few of each. Still haven't ordered from the Polish site. Thanks.

Yeah, it would depend on the price of course, but if they're no more than a few bucks each, I'd be in for a few of each. (say 5 or 6 total)

I would be in for a few. I currently am BL with the C05M/stock 8t pinion, but am thinking about going to the HP05s or others in the future so having a few of these on hand would be nice.

Both sound good. I'd be in for one of each, depending on price.
If you could make only one, I'd lean towards the 7T. There are at least more sources for 8T (use stock pinion and turn down motor shaft, or maybe try to drill it out to 1.5mm). But 7T pinions (regardless of hole size) have been really tough to find. The shop in Poland is the only one I'm aware of.

Sign me up! It'd be nice to have something that required very little work to get a nice fit.
Rather than offer a 7T and 8T, isn't there a concesus for which is the best choice? I keep trying to pull the trigger on going BL, but I get overwhelmed with the infinite options. I know, I know... options are a good thing! |

I'd vote for 8T - I like a high HS, but the HS w/ the 9T is just a bit over the top. :-)

There is no perfect setup, but experimenting will get you the best you are looking for. Personally i think the C05M with 8T/9T is a great setup for beginner or just looking for something better than stock and not having to keep replacing stock motor, headspeed is low enough so control is not very sensitive and easier to fly, more crash resistance, i didn't need to mod my tail motor, just use a boom ext and larger wires. The next best setup is the HP05S motor with 7T/8T but headspeed is much higher and control will become quite sensitive and you will also need to mod your tail motor to a SR120 style by "tntneon" or the dual coreless mod by "liftbag", this should be the "pro" setup, not so crash friendly due to high HS. So in my opinion, you are not looking for what is the best setup money can buy but look for a setup that suit your flying skill but still better than stock and the advantage of not having to replace the stock main motor.
As for pinion choice, i would think the best option would be a pinion that fit a 1.5mm without having to mod anything. Once i get some specific details, we'll know for sure, but if i have to choose one of the two im leaning toward the 8T because it can be used for both HP05S and C05M motor with 1.5mm shaft, again shooting for plug and play option, 7T would be nice and smooth for HP05S but too low HS on the C05M, just my thought however opinions are always welcomed. Best regards, Louis aprohobbies.com |

Just a lil update, i sent in the requirement that we need and they are in the process of drawing an autocad design and have me confirmed before they make the mold, still no details about the price or confirmation if they can do it at all, still too early to say. I will keep everyone in mind so no one will get left out, no worries
Have a great weekend! Louis, aprohobbies.com |
