Default Biggest Landing gear?

I want to give my 450 sport a lift, what the biggest gear I can fit on without modding the gear? 550?

500 will make your heli gain a little wieght, but any bigger and it'll become just plain fat, unless you find some that is CF.

I have Align 500 gear on mine and you WILL have to drill new holes with ANY bigger gear. On my Furion 6 I run Quick UK gear and I love the size compared to stock.

500 gear will work just fine as it provides a full 2 1/2 inches of ground clearance and they are roughly 7 inches wide. However the largest set of skids is the T600 set. I use them for deep grass flying and I cut down the skid tubes. In one I use CF skid tubes and the CF skids from HK. The CF skid tube needs to be 9mm to work. Personally I have never found a need to have the skids bend at the forward tip for grass flying.

Looks nice and they are super light. I have never lost a tail since upgrading to them, nor had a landing where the heli tipped since they are roughly 9 inches wide. All the parks and schools I fly at locally seem to have unseen dips in the grass that you cannot see until touchdown.
I had way too many tip overs with the stock gear and tail issues grinding into the grass. Also the 500 skids have weak skid tubes. I was constantly bending them. But they do look better and more symmetrical than the 600s. But the 600s are tank tough.

I have the landing gear off my 500 and a Fusuno 500 vertical tail on my 450. I kinda like it and it keeps the tail rotors out of the grass during the Summer months.

I bought several months ago metal landing gears and they looked so good on the heli.
But, if for some reason you have a motor failure or a hard landing, you better order a new set of frames and bottom plate.
After that I throw'em away.
Don't get the rigid ones, you want some "spring" on'em.
Go for the Align 500

I've had the plastic baseplate fail on me twice with oversize gear. The result is dramatic (think mid-air explosion). Since then I've used aluminum baseplates. The oversize gear tends to amplify or resonate with vibration.

The align plastic baseplates are pure cheap trash. Mine were cracking out at the rear junction repeatedly even doing mild basic break in flights. I had to go to the aluminum baseplate. Plus the plastic versions were simply warped and off level. I couldn't successfully mount my gyros, nor my Sk720 inside. I even had the plastic baseplates crack out in my scale versions. I eliminated those harmonic vibes in two different ways. First was to shorten the skid tubes. Next, I had to realize that Trex makes a vibrating sloppy heli to start with. So I had to address each of those issues to calm mine down. It is not just a skid size issue. They only act according to what they are mounted on. No vibes, no resonating.

The Quick Uk landing gear (for the 600's) is larger than the T600 gear. The skid pipe is also far larger in diameter.
Check them out.
