Default 6HV FBL conversion tips needed

Hi all, i plan to convert my flaybarred 6HV to FBL soon. Please those of you, that already done the conversion, leave tips that should be done here. ie ... why the servo arms should be shortened from its original size of 25mm?? Im planning to use the original compass head and the 3GX module.

Think about the Micro Beast X rather than 3GX.

The MBX works very well right out of the box, easy to setup and is reliable; for the same price of a 3GX.

I think you can keep the 25mm servo arms. The RC711 sells a conversion kit for a reasonable price.

Best regards.

Alex.

Hi, Alex, thanks for your input. The case is that here in Argentina, the 3GX is the only module that you can find easily. I know that its not the best, but, i will give a try. And, im not hard core 3D, i fly sport and basic aerobatic maneuvres, stalls, rolls and loops. I hope it performs decently.

Hi Piero,

I don't know how difficult is for you guys getting stuffs from Asia, but here in Brazil that is the only option. We don't have a local market.

I've got my compass and parts from RC711. They have the MBX with good price.
You can place an order with MBX and FBL Conversion kit and ask for DHL shipment. It will get in your hands in 5 days. I'm quite sure you will pay less, even considering the higher cost of DHL rather than buying locally.

If MBX is not an option for you, make yourself a favor, update your 3GX at least to the version 2.1.

Best Regards.

Alex.

Yes, FBL is leading edge control if you want the swash moving the same direction as collective pitch. You could probably run trailing edge without issue if you can get used to the idea of the swash going down when collective pitch goes up.

The flybared version is LEADING EDGE CONTROL too.... The head has a special design to keep leading edge conrol in the flybared version too. Theres no need to invert blade grips when convert to FBL.

Default 6HV FBL conversion

Hi guys,

I am in the process of converting the FB 6HV to FBL also. I bought the conversion kit from RC711 since Nankin cannot seem to keep this hot item in stock.

My question are:
1. Is there a difference between the main frames from the original FB 6HV version and the FBL version? I was told that there were two versions of the frames.
2. Will i run into any issues if use the conversion kit?

I will be using the Micro BeastX.

Thanks!!

FunkyTee,

"My question are:

1. Is there a difference between the main frames from the original FB 6HV version and the FBL version? I was told that there were two versions of the frames."

Yes, the FBL Frames have slightly different servo positions. The servos are moved slightly closer to the main rotor shaft, so that shorter servo arms can be used (usually an necessity when converting to flybarless) without messing up the linkage geometry.

If I recall, correctly, the link balls on the servo arms were 25mm from the center on the Flybarred version and 19 mm from center when converted to FBL.

The FBL frames can be identified by the notch for the back of the battery (recesses the battery slightly into the frames and makes it easier to get the canopy on with a larger variety of batteries).

I do not know if the FB frames are still in production or if only the FBL frames are now standard.

"2. Will i run into any issues if use the conversion kit?"

You shouldn't. It was a pretty straight forward conversion. It was a bit time consuming due to the side frame change out, but it was very easy.

There are a great many of us here to help you if you should need it.
