Default Goblin 700 flight at TripleCreek Tampa FunFly and .... Crash

I was glad to see Bert bringing the new SAB Goblin 700 to the FunFly last Saturday. However not so happy seeing it went down due to technical issues. Lost control - still damage looks not too bad.

I got the cause right here!

Asked Bert and got a reply straight away

Quote:
I traced it back to a chafed wire rubbing up against the carbon frame, which of course overwhelmed the vBar sending it to fail safe mode It's all fixed now!

Sao - thanks for chiming in -> yep sometimes those little things cause the big trouble.

Anyhow damage did not look too severe.

Default Not a crash!!

That's not a crash... Bert was at the sticks - that was a textbook example of "falling with style"! With the optional sideways landing for bonus points!

Actually, I'd say that was a pretty good testament to the strength and connection method of the Goblin's tail boom. I recall some of us questioning whether or not the unique tail design would hold up. I'm pretty certain my TRex's CF-over-aluminum boom would have kinked at the very least.

With my piloting skills, I'll be putting my Goblin through much worse LOL. Any quantity discounts, Canomod??

Well hard to say but the nice slow kotion flips have been done by the heli. No more control - otherwise Bert would have landed it.
Also the tail did not break because it landed on the site. The right site of the landing gear and aluminum mounting bars are damaged for sure. Otherwise minor damage since motor did shut off.

Well, at least I won't be the first one to crash!

So it looks like blades and links but hard to see if frame or LG on the other side were broken, but I remember a comment that they haddn't managed to break frames in testing crashes, so even if one did break, it sounds like they don't do it very often.

Only thing that looks bad is possibly the motor mount, is it bent or is that just an effect of the lens?

//Dennis.
