Question Scorpion 4035/500 in TDR ?? Is it ok or not ?

Hi guys,

i have bought a second hand TDR but it came with no electronics. The pinions supplied are only a 15t and a 16t.

Is it ok if i put in a Scorp 4035/500 in combination with the 15t pinion ?? I also have a Scorp 4035/560 laying around, but i think that will be too much in combination with a 15t.
What do you guys think ?

thx dirk

What regulator will you use with it?
With a Jive it will work fine.

Stock 4035 may be not the strongest motor;
i've a rewound 4035 and now it works cooler and push hard.

Should be enough.

Maybe borderline for hard 3D.
My Jlog shows 170A making tic-tocs.
I use a PowerJive 120 and a rewound Pyro.

It's almost the same as the Pyro so should work fine as a standard setup.

Hi Helicraze,

what's the advantage of the higher KV motor on the TDR ?

Grtz,
Dirk

I have a similar question, would the Hyperion HS4035-560 be a good choice? With a 14T? It's on 4kW continously so would be a little more powerful than stock I hope.

Yeh the hyperion is good made by scorpion.

Higher kv seems to bog less due to inertia of the can. Feels more powerfull.

upon 14t i jloged 6.5kw sustained (130a) during speedrun with 15 deg pitch (2150rpm)
this motor can give much more than the specs and has a good compromise between flighttime and performance on a hv80jive with heatsink, dedicated fun and Mick naca duct.
idle1 1350rpm soft3d 10min
idle2 1650rpm 6min
idle3 2150 4 speedruns no time here.
4000mah nano 35c.
i hope that good information were provided.
temperatures are all average nothing to worry!
definately the 560kv is a much more powerful option..

What pinion size do you have on the 560kv? I'm thinking a 13-tooth. Thanks!

I run 13T on the HKIII-4035-500 and fly for 8 minutes at 1650 RPM on 12s4500 packs. With 14T you could probably govern at 1800-1850 RPM, and 15T will be a ton of power. Definitely do not use the 16T: either your headspeed will be insane or your throttle curves will be too low.

Thanks for all the input, i'll be trying the 4035/500 with the 15t pinion.

Grtz,
Dirk

Today i had a couple of flights with this:

I'm using 13T pinion, after 8 minutes of light 3D still there 30% of charge in the 4000 mAh battery.

while i dont have a tdr, i thought i'd answer the question regarding motor choice.

a 560kv bogs less than 500kv of the same model, only because the winding resistance is lower (from using fewer turns and larger gauge)

because you're running both motors off 12s, the 500kv will sag rpm more under the same load.

however, 560kv on 12s = 500kv on 13.5s, in all senses of the comparison - power, efficiency, durability, "boggability" etc (within practical tolerances)

Yes, use the 15T, or use the 560KV and 14T. It will Work
