Interesting tail setup

Have any close up pics of it?

Any reason to need to use the 8T pulley vs. the 9T pulley?

I have seen the ripples running around in different forums talking about these. But in a 12s stretch I just don't see any way that you could even come close to using the 60c ability. Pretty cool though. This is a large step forward in batter tech.

none that i can think of...other than the 8's were what i had one of on hand...and it worked...so i ordered more to go with it. honestly didnt know they made a 9t in metal...could overdrive the tail that way too if ya wanted...use a 9 up front and an 8 in the back at the tail...

Yeah, it comes in a sylish red anodize too!

This size Align is 4.6:1, IIRC...so 5.175:1 would definately help with more than 2 blades on the head...excellent for scalers like a Hughes or Eurocopter

I'm sure there are a BUNCH of other choices...maybe some that would work even better than the raptor..i just knew it would work with a little tweaking ...didnt know about the 9 tooth though..thanks for the info!

I have been stretching T600 machines for about 3 years. It adds thrust (or Pop) at little increase in weight.
I have done a negative stretch (before aling released their machine)
A "yardbird" stretch to 690 and 710 - REALLY fly good
A 625 stretch to use CY625 blades
Presenty doing a 640 stretch - belt driven

I don't see a down side to stretches -- all +

I thought about this for a few days before answering. The only clear advantage that I can see is in changing gear ratios or in how the belt seats over a larger dia pulley. I did a larger drive pulley in one of my smaller helis to keep the belt from hopping under severe stress when I did throttle pumps. On the smaller pulley, it hopped.

One thing I would like to ask at this point, do the tension rollers that redirect the belt drive at the elbow require any special maintenance? And is it possible to introduce ceramic bearings into them just to insure they wont ever seize up under normal conditions?

Very nice work

I like your version of the boom block assembly..
Is it adaptable for torque tube drive and if so would you be interested in making one?

cant take credit for the boom block...thats from rc-tek...I only WISH I was anywhere NEAR as good as Bob in a machine shop...but it is adaptable to a TT..he sells everything to do it...

I also used his 600 FBL rotor assembly...it has 14mm grip spacing....

Don't know if its comparing apples and oranges...but have the same setup on my 450 stretch...and it has 300+ flights approaching or over 20 minutes each..and the only thing i have ever done is a few drops of tri-flow whenever i happen to think about it...in fact..the 450 tail has never been apart since i first maidened it. holds like a vise even with a 1600 rotor speed. The sound of it takes a little getting used to though...lmao sounds like a bag full of pissed off hornets whenever you make a hard turn...lol
