Yeah, I made some progress today. Some of the problem was simply in the gain tuning. We use a Cascading PID controller, and I had the outer controller gained up too high. At least on Yaw. I turned down the outer, and was able to turn up the inner controller (pure rate). The tail holds much more precisely now. Tomorrow I will try the same thing with pitch. It might hold pitch better.
I also put the Yaw rate gain on a knob so I could tune it down in flight. At high speeds, it was pretty happy at about half the standard rate. I'm going to look to automate this process now based on GPS speed. I was able to fly in Altitude Hold mode (auto-collective) up to 120 km/h without issue. I have trouble getting it to go faster mostly just because I don't have enough room. It's still accelerating when I have to pull up to turn around. This 550 stretch flies so beautifully though. I'm very very happy with how it came out! Just superb.

Yeah, it's called Arducopter, running on an APM2.5 hardware. It's an open source project and I'm basically lead developer on adapting the multi-rotor code to work on helis.

Thought I would post some pics of my newest creation , a T-500 stretched firrst to a 550 now stretched to a 600 because there are more 600 size fuselages than 550.
It has a Gaui 550 head , Align 134t slant main w/ 12t pinion , an E-sky 1100Kv 600size motor , a stretched 500 TT and boom w/ a HK gearbox and Align gears and cut down to 95mm Stealth tail blades , and Align 600 size landing gear. Have flown her yet she's still on the bench getting those fine tuned adjustments , but here are some pics. |

Hi dudes! I was thinking about the load what 690mm blades are doing in 600 align head? What rpm it holds? Sadly if the blades flow away and hit someone.
I fly with 1700-1850 now. What can i fly with? Thanks helifreaks |

As time goes on..and with having longer flight times available certain things begin to show their limitations...
I have found that the plastic boom block is showing such on the 1000 stretch. That being the issue a new design is being tested as a direct upgrade replacement for both the 550 and 600 ESP and PRO designs along with the K-Frame 600 frame set. kregan has done it once again ![]() the new boom block as of this moment is setup for a belt driven tail, but will soon be adapted for TT.

Hi again! I wonder what headspeed the 600 head holds? Blades are still radix 690mm. Can i fly with 2000-2100 headspeed? It flies nice with current speed and i am thinking to put smaller pinion. My throttle curve is 37% flat with governor.

I would be more concerned with your throttle curve..
@ 37%, you must be heating up your ESC. You might consider re-gearing for say.. 1900 -2100 @ 85% for better operation

Well the first shake down hop proved that the design works.... everything is still holding together in one piece.
Going to give it a once over to make sure nothing has loosened up then off to the field for a proper spankin'

I have kontronik jive 80hv. Esc and motor is hand warm after flight. 37% throttle give 1800-1850 headspeed. Not 3D smack yet. But i have thinking to put KDE motor block and smaller pinion. Maybe i put back my 600mm radix blades and fly with that.
