No doubt Bro, I’ve tried to gauge the motor size just by going off pictures I’ve seen. Once I had the motor in my hand, it was still a little bigger than I thought. My first impression was wow, I’m holding a bad ass monster motor in my hand, can‘t wait to see what it can do…yeah Baby!!!

You install the tail drive gear and pro shaft and tighten the set screws so they will make a mark on the ms. Pull the ms out and drill or make a flat spot for the set screw. The new pulley looks great JC! Being it’s aluminum not plastic really adds to the over all look of the Bird.

Can't really answer your question since I have not flown a stock pro.Maybe ATC can chime in on that. It's 1056g with batt and canopy ready to go.

Made some more changes to the cnc file for the dd 450 fp/cp. This is the frame for my one with fp head. The other one will stay cp. I have to make one more change and then ATC's frame is up next.

Well…just wanted to say thanks a lot Johnny. Thanks to you I have completely disassemble a perfectly good helicopter.

Made the cut out for the motor a little bit bigger,easier to get the motor in and out when the frame is together. On your frame put an inspection slot to check belt tension. Moved far right hole on bottom ms bearing block up .040 for better alignment. And a slot into the rx tray for incoming wires.

Hey, I take it that your Xheli EXI kit came with a carbon fiber bottom plate and aluminum mounts. The EXI kit I’m using for this build is the one Xheli was selling a couple months ago for $39.99. It came with a plastic bottom plate that did not require the mounting blocks. It’swas no sweat though, I just swap bottom plates with my HK Pro, since it did have the cf plate with the mounts.


Well this is where I’m at so far. I was hoping to get the whole bird built today, but my son is bugging me hard to play with him…so it’s really doubtful. Might have a chance later to work on it some more. So far everything is fitting together well Bud.

Been smiling since I open the Box the frame kit came in. Once this puppy is in the air, I’m thinking the smile is just going to get bigger and bigger.

So very true Hyd, usually I disassemble the whole helicopter in a faction of a second with parts spread out everywhere. Sometimes even before the helicopter hits the ground.

Looking good HH. OG was right on the tail servo mount,mine broke. The only part I would recommend replacing with an align part is the tail servo mount.Looking forward to see if your tb-54 works with the fc motor. The only part I don't have is a esc for the second one i am building. Have more video from today of ATC flying the dd 450 cp.Will post later today.

Cool! I have a few more questions, if you don't mind?

Do you know what kind of rpm you're getting on the CP version?

Why are the front swash servos mounted on the frame rather than on the bearing blocks?

Have you thought about doing a direct drive tail? Would possibly save on parts cost, weight, etc. and it would be VERY cool to have a helicopter that made nothing but aerodynamic noise.

One more question...what kind of CNC machine do you have?

Thought of yet another question...how much does the motor weigh?
