Question What is too cold to fly for you?

MAN...it's Christmas day, and I want to fly at least one of my helis, just because I have off of work and it's light outside!
It's 33 (F) outside right now...that IMHO is too cold for me, let alone the heli.
It says it's supposed to get a high of about 47 later so, maybe I will fly.

What is the coldest temp you guys fly and for what reason is that your limit? I know ball links start getting a bit stiff feeling around 40 (F)

I think I'm going to take a couple packs out of storage mode and charge em'.

Flying in gloves, is pretty tough. Although there are gloves out there that leave your finger tips exposed. I've flown in -6 Celcius before. Although after one flight, my fingers are really cold. I've been looking at getting a transmitter glove. Hobby King sells a bag, with a clear top and a hole for the antenna and your hands to slide into. It keeps the wind off of your fingers, and you can stick some of those little hot pads in there to try to keep your fingers warmer still. Not sure how well those bags work though.

Yea, it was about 41 degrees out (F) w/ good wind. I decided to fly the nitro 600 and I couldnt deal w/ more than 1 tank. The wind just cuts right through you after a while. I tried fingertip-less gloves but, it feels weird.

I've seen those but, I think it would just look a little weird...or funny really. But, if it does work, then that may be worth it. I'd like to hear from someone who's tried that wind enclosure.

Was flying in 20deg weather and I lost a cf tail rod that shattered at 20, caused a crash. just heard of another guy complaining his fbl system wouldn't boot up at a -12. I will wait for it to get warmer before I try it again. Just too cold on the old fingers for me also. And -12? Insane.

I've flown as low as -8c but at that temp plastic gets brittle and one of my helis died horribly when it lost it. Also at that temperature my fingers can't take more than about 5 minutes at a stretch before they start to get slow (and all feeling departs).

I don't fly in wind, and I will fly in temperatures as low as -10C (14F) ... if it's sunnya and no wind (and I'm desperate) I will push it a little further.

Get a transmitter mitt to keep your TX and your hands warm.
