One of my work buddies just picked up his first real heli hobby grade heli this afternoon.....
![]() It all started a couple months ago when I started working at my current job and I place a picture of a T-Rex 600 hovering inverted over a field.... That got the conversation started and he stated that he has always wanted an RC heli and such..... I told him about the hobby, site, videos.... I basically answered all the questions he could throw at me and made some recommendations as to what he should start out with and where to progress from there. Come Christmas time, he made the mistake of buying a mall heli which he like but as I warned him about, it got destroyed pretty fast and parts weren't available. Well fast forward to today he shows me an ad that a local guy is selling a Co-Ax blade heli RTF that has basically never been flown for a price too good to pass up. So during lunch we drive to the guys house, I check over the heli for him and test fly it, and before you know it we are in the car and my friend has the biggest smile on his face...... Another freak has been born..... ![]() |

Good job, you are a saint and a steward..
But seriously, that is great to see the hobby grow. I am also jealous, I have no flying buddies.

It is a great feeling to get someone started.
My friend that runs the LHS often refers interested customers to me who have graduated to the mSR, mastered it and want more. I set the guy up with an mCPx and Phoenix and we even figured out how to buddy box with his mCPx which is a bit overkill but was helpful and I wanted to learn how to set up the buddy box in my TX anyway. He just finished putting together a TREX 450 Sport V2 and now we simply need a warmer calm day to maiden it. The Sport V2 has a completely different head which really threw me for a loop. They say "To teach is to learn twice." and that's no joke. Just keep in mind that it can be very time consuming too.
